Anby Demara

Overview

Anby Demara is a character from the video game Zenless Zone Zero, acting as an A-rank Agent for the faction known as the Cunning Hares. Appearing as a stoic young woman with a forgotten or concealed past, she serves as the team's vanguard with highly refined combat efficiency. After being rescued in the past by Nicole Demara, Anby developed an intense loyalty toward her, even adopting Nicole's surname. Despite her low emotional expression, she plays a grounded, pragmatic role in managing the faction's operations alongside her eccentric teammates.

Appearance

She has short white hair styled with a single braid on the right side, paired with orange-to-green gradient eyes. She constantly wears a pair of headphones that double as a voice recorder. Her upper outfit consists of a short white crop top covered by an off-shoulder black hoodie, complemented by lime-green body armor over her chest and arms, along with fingerless gloves. For bottoms, she wears a black pleated miniskirt paired with black shorts underneath, displaying straps at her waist, complemented by black thigh-high socks and high-top sneakers. On her back, she carries a battery-like power device.

Personality

Anby is exceptionally calm, pragmatic, and serious, rarely showing strong emotion. While she acts as a voice of reason keeping her impulsive teammates in check, she takes the Cunning Hares' constant financial deficits to heart. Despite her analytical combat mindset, she has a naive quirk stemming from her passion for cinema: she often mistakes movie tropes and fictional scenarios for reality, strictly applying them to actual operations. She is also a passionate enthusiast of hamburgers, regarding them as the ultimate, perfectly balanced food.

Abilities

Operating as an Electric Stun agent, Anby fights in close quarters using a high-tech electromagnetic sword. Her combat style involves swift sword strikes imbued with electricity, including acrobatic spin attacks like her Overdrive Engine, designed to break enemy balance rapidly. By seamlessly linking her basic three-hit attack sequence into heavy thunder attacks or her Special Attack, she significantly amplifies her daze output. She excels at executing dodge counterattacks, using them to regenerate energy and sustain rapid invulnerable slashes.

Background

Anby is originally 'Soldier 0,' a clone created through military human experimentation who once led the Silver Squad. After intentionally performing reckless maneuvers to spare her fellow clones from being decommissioned, she disobeyed orders and was left behind inside a Hollow. She was subsequently discovered and rescued by Nicole Demara, becoming the founding employee of the Cunning Hares. Through her work with the Proxies known as Phaethon, she navigates dangerous Hollow investigations, eventually confronting the dark legacy of the military clone program and her former squad members.

Relationships

She holds deep trust and attachment to Nicole Demara, whom she views as a savior and mother figure, choosing to use her last name. She shares a camaraderie with her fellow Cunning Hares members, Billy Kid and Nekomata, often keeping their chaotic behavior in line. She addresses the Proxy siblings Wise and Belle as respected mentors, frequently visiting their store to discuss movies. She also shares a complex, tragic history with her former military clone counterparts, including Soldier 11 and Trigger.

Trivia

When idling, Anby frequently hums movie background scores and her own battle theme to herself. In an effort to help Nicole, she once secretly used secondary online accounts to accept Hollow commissions and leave glowing reviews for the Cunning Hares.
