Overview
Trigger is a playable female Agent in Zenless Zone Zero who serves as an Electric-attribute Stun specialist for the Obsidian Division's Obol Squad within the New Eridu Defense Force. Easily identified by her sleek black visor and heavy electromagnetic sniper rifle, she operates as an elite military marksman. Formerly part of the ill-fated Lyre Squad, she carries a solemn resolve following the Fall of the Old Capital. Beneath her calm demeanor lies a steadfast devotion to her comrades, supporting her team from the backlines through off-field follow-up sniper fire and formidable vulnerability debuffs.
Appearance
Trigger is a tall woman with long blonde hair tied in a high ponytail. Her eyes are covered by a black visor equipped with indicator lamps that change color according to her emotional state. She wears a tactical military vest with chest pouches and an exposed midriff, paired with long black tight pants, knee guards, short boots, and fingerless gloves. Her weapon, the scope-less electromagnetic sniper rifle named Phlegethon, features a detachable engine-trigger unit for handgun-style use and an integrated machete blade mounted under the barrel for melee combat.
Personality
Though reserved and rarely given to talking about her painful past, Trigger possesses a gentle, considerate nature. Her teammates trust her explicitly, respecting her focus as well as her meticulous household habits such as keeping the dormitories clean. She also displays a playful side and a fondness for children. Having endured severe trauma from losing her previous squad, she finds solace in playing the harmonica melody Going Home taught by her late captain. Overcoming her grief, she directs her focus away from mere vengeance, fighting with unwavering resolve to unearth the truth behind the historic catastrophe and protect others.
Abilities
Despite losing ninety percent of her sight to Ether corruption, Trigger utilizes her heightened hearing, smell, and Ether Sight—a sensory ability to perceive Ether fluctuations—to construct a precise internal spatial map. In combat, she relies on off-field support, expending her Zeyi gauge to trigger follow-up sniper shots known as Sniper Concerto whenever teammates attack. Her Special Skill Youshan and Ultimate Requiem of the Underworld grant invincible slashes, heavy artillery shots, and the Joint Frontline state. Through her Core Passive, her off-field follow-up strikes continuously inflict an increased damage vulnerability on targets without requiring a full daze break.
Background
Before the Fall of the Old Capital, Trigger served in the Defense Force's Lyre Squad. Deployed into Hollow Zero as an advance recon team, her squad was abandoned when high-ranking officers canceled reinforcements. Hit by an Ether beam, she lost ninety percent of her vision and all her squadmates, becoming the sole survivor. Haunted by trauma, she left active service and spent years seeking the truth behind her teammates' fate. Guided by the proxies Phaethon, she confronted Corpse Vulture, a rogue sniper targeting veterans out of shared trauma. After resolving their duel and putting her grief to rest, Trigger acquired a recorded message from her fallen squad, reaffirming her cause and joining the Obol Squad.
Relationships
In Obol Squad, Trigger works alongside Soldier 11, Orpheus, Seed, and Orphees. Soldier 11 holds complete confidence in her resolve, intuition, and domestic capability. She remains deeply devoted to the memory of her fallen Lyre Squad teammates, including Captain Charon, Acheron, Lethe, Styx, and Cocytus. She maintains a profound bond of gratitude toward the Phaethon siblings, who supported her through her trials. Trigger also shares a tragic connection with Zoe, the former soldier who once saved her from the Hollow but ultimately became a vengeful enemy whom Trigger laid to rest. Additionally, she shares a humorous rivalry over red bean buns with Tsukishiro Yanagi.
Trivia
Her favorite harmonica piece, Going Home, was originally composed by her former squad leader Charon as a shared bond exclusive to the members of Lyre Squad. The name of her weapon, Phlegethon, was originally considered as Trigger's own military code name, but Captain Charon gave her the callsign Trigger instead due to pronunciation ease, leading Trigger to bestow Phlegethon upon her custom firearm as a keepsake of her unit. She is also absurdly fond of red bean buns, once buying out an entire street stock in seconds.
