Soukaku

Overview

Soukaku is a playable character in the action video game Zenless Zone Zero, developed by miHoYo. She serves as an agent in the Hollow Special Operations Section 6 under the Ice attribute and Support specialty. A girl of the Oni race, she combines an innocent, childlike personality with immense physical combat capability, wielding a massive Blade Banner in battle. Within her unit, Section 6 Deputy Chief Tsukishiro Yanagi acts as her legal guardian.

Appearance

Soukaku is a young Oni girl characterized by light blue skin, visible horns, short white hair, and red eyes. Her attire consists of a white collared shirt with a black necktie, a cropped bolero jacket, a pleated miniskirt, and short boots. She sports a collar around her neck and straps around her wrists. When entering a focused combat mode, she dons an Oni mask adorned with the Chinese character for wind.

Personality

Soukaku has a pure, cheerful, and uninhibited disposition. Possessing an intense love for food, she derives immense happiness from being full and harbors severe anger toward anyone who wastes meals. Due to a lack of formal education in her early life, she struggles with literacy and complex vocabulary, frequently mispronouncing words. Her straightforward and naive nature makes her cherished by her comrades like a younger sister.

Abilities

Soukaku wields the massive Oni Blade Banner to deal physical and Ice elemental damage. Through Special Attacks and Empowered Special Attacks, she creates wind fields that generate stacks of Vortex. Consuming these stacks triggers the Frost-Banner state, granting enhanced strike capabilities. Her Flag-Raising action increases attack power and transfers combat buffs to switching teammates via Quick Assists and Chain Attacks.

Background

During past conflicts between the Oni race and humans, Soukaku was encountered by Tsukishiro Yanagi, who was then a defense force soldier. Following a tragic resolution involving the sacrifice of the former Oni tribe leader—Soukaku's elder sister—Yanagi brought her into human society and secured her legal citizenship in New Eridu. She currently serves as an active Section 6 team member while living under Yanagi's care.

Relationships

Tsukishiro Yanagi serves as Soukaku's guardian and motherly caretaker, whom she affectionate addresses as an elder sister figure. She respects Hoshimi Miyabi as her leader and maintains a close, family-like dynamic with teammate Asaba Harumasa. In her past, she was also related to the former chief of the Oni tribe, who was her biological sister.

Trivia

The lower portion of her Oni mask features a small inscription in Sanskrit that roughly translates to a phrase about remaining calm to stay cool. Her signature attack chant is a playful, food-inspired distortion of Hoshimi Miyabi's favorite catchphrase.
