Overview
Aria is a character in Zenless Zone Zero, serving as the lead vocalist and visual centerpiece of the rising idol unit Angels of Delusion. Designated as an S-Rank Ether-attribute Anomaly agent, she stands 150 centimeters tall and acts as the bright, high-energy public face of her group. While she appears on stage as a charming performer who aims to spread joy through music, her human form is actually a holographic projection masking her identity as an intelligent construct.
Appearance
Aria stands 150 centimeters tall with a female build. In public settings, she uses high-performance holographic projection to manifest a human idol appearance. When this disguise is disabled by seawater or severe emotional distress, her mechanical body as an intelligent construct is revealed. In her base form, her eyes function as a monitor screen displaying various facial icons. She has an alternate costume named Discordant Note. Her standard equipment is a multi-functional device fitted with sharp blades, a bow and arrow, and penlights, while her boss variant, Finale's Desire: Aria, wields dark-toned holographic arrows and heavy weaponry.
Personality
When performing as an idol, Aria displays an overwhelmingly cheerful, positive, and passionate demeanor, finding joy in making others happy through song. Conversely, she harbors a deep complex regarding her mechanical identity. Stripped of her holographic facade, her true personality is shy, reserved, and introverted, often adopting polite speech. She is also a hard-core idol enthusiast who worships the retired singer Cecilia. When geeking out over idol merchandise, she becomes uncontrollably talkative, dragging those around her into her hobby. Though she struggles with complex dance routines, fans deeply appreciate her earnest dedication.
Abilities
As an Ether Anomaly agent, Aria fights using a multi-functional gear combining blades, a bow, and penlights. Executing her basic attack Sweet Rhythm and other skills spawns Cheer Energy on the field. Absorbing this energy rapidly boosts her charged attack Absolute Pitch, enabling heavy downward strikes and repeated slamming attacks. Her EX Special Skills, Fall for Mosou and Instant Infatuation, deliver rapid kicks and acoustic shockwaves, while her Ultimate, 100% Full Energy!, initiates Mosou Time to unleash multi-shot barrages and deploy an Ether Veil that buffs team attack power. Her core passive triggers Mad Bloom, dealing devastating bonus damage against targets affected by anomalies or daze. In her boss form, Finale's Desire: Aria, she switches to annihilation mode utilizing bow shots and broadsword strikes.
Background
Aria originated as a military intelligent construct equipped with holographic functions meant to confuse targets. Struggling with feelings of inadequacy about her synthetic nature, she sought advice from an entity known as the Fairy of Wishes even before obtaining a soul. Driven by a passion for singing, she eventually debuted as the main vocalist for the rising unit Angels of Delusion. She conceals her mechanical frame behind holographic technology in her daily life, balancing her public stage career with battle operations.
Relationships
Within Angels of Delusion, Chinatsu composes Aria's songs and acts as a close friend, though she is often exasperated by Aria's wild idol obsession. Her teammate Nangong Yu takes care of Aria when she is exhausted and coordinates with her for joint team attacks. Cecilia, a legendary diva who retired a decade ago, serves as Aria's ultimate idol. The Fairy of Wishes, whom Aria relied on for guidance, speaks in a manner strikingly similar to Phaethon's AI assistant, Fairy. On the battlefield, she also demonstrates excellent synergy alongside combat partners like Von Lycaon and Yuzuha Fuwa.
Trivia
Navigating between her equipment and skill screens turns off her holographic disguise to reveal her true mechanical frame, shifting her voice from a natural human tone to a synthesized robot voice. Her costume preview screen allows checking both forms and voice sets. Incapable of digesting organic food, she consumes specialized products for constructs to experience flavors like strawberry, though her lack of pain receptors leaves her unable to taste spiciness. Her synthetic body feels cool in summer and warm in winter when touched, and her face monitor displays lively facial icons even in her base state.
