Von Lycaon

Overview

Von Lycaon is a playable character in the action role-playing game Zenless Zone Zero. He serves as the chief agent and field leader of Victoria Housekeeping Co., operating as an S-Rank Ice-attribute Stun agent. As a wolf Thiren, he is an impeccably mannered butler who displays refined intelligence, exceptional loyalty, and complete professionalism toward his clients. Capable of handling everything from everyday domestic tasks to high-stakes combat, spying, mechanical maintenance, and airship piloting, he is widely regarded by wealthy patrons as their most trusted attendant.

Appearance

Lycaon is a wolf Thiren with white body fur, short white hair featuring black streaks, red eyes, wolf ears, and a fluffy wolf tail bound with belts. He wears a facial mask reminiscent of a muzzle, alongside an eyepatch over his right eye. His attire consists of a short-sleeved white shirt with arm belts, a grey double-breasted vest, grey trousers, black fingerless gloves, and a pocket watch. Below his knees, both legs are fully replaced with custom mechanical prosthetics.

Personality

Lycaon embodies the archetype of a refined gentleman, marked by stoic rationality, deep politeness, and high professional pride. He is obsessed with cleanliness and takes meticulous care of his appearance. While he strives to keep his emotions hidden to maintain an absolute decorum, his suppressed canine traits occasionally reveal themselves through the involuntary wiggling of his ears and tail when delighted. Underneath his composed exterior lies a intense naturally wild instinct that emerges during critical danger. He also possesses a strong urge for self-improvement, actively seeking training in his off-hours whenever he encounters a skill he has yet to master.

Abilities

Guided by a policy to reserve his hands solely for serving clients, Lycaon fights exclusively using kick-based martial arts powered by his cold-infused mechanical leg prosthetics. His normal attacks and special skills can be charged by holding down buttons to significantly boost damage and daze build-up. His enhanced special skill grants full invincibility during a flurry of heavy kicks. Striking enemies with charged moves or assistance attacks lowers their Ice resistance and increases their damage multiplier while stunned, maximizing his team's offensive window.

Background

Raised by Old Jack alongside Hugo Vlad, Lycaon learned the skills of a phantom thief under a strict code never to take a human life. Following Old Jack's passing, he and Hugo formed the phantom thief syndicate Mockingbird. However, when Hugo succumbed to vengeance and killed several people—including his own father—Lycaon broke ties with him and left the syndicate. He subsequently allied with Mayor Mayflower and joined Victoria Housekeeping Co., a move that led Hugo to brand him a traitor. In his current role, he oversees his eccentric teammates while fulfilling high-stakes contracts across New Eridu.

Relationships

Within Victoria Housekeeping Co., Lycaon acts as a protective yet frequently exasperated supervisor to his unique subordinates: Corin Wickes, Alexandrina Sebastiane, and Ellen Joe. He serves Mayor Mayflower directly, executing high-priority mandates with utmost discretion. His most complex tie is with Hugo Vlad, his former fellow apprentice and co-founder of Mockingbird, who became his bitter enemy following their ideological rift. He maintains a cooperative and highly respectful professional alliance with the Proxy Phaethon.

Trivia

Although Lycaon attributes the loss of his right eye and lower legs to an unblamed accident, hints suggest the incident involved his former partner Hugo Vlad. In his youth, he had a rebellious phase, which accounts for his reluctance to revisit certain dramatic phrases he was forced to memorize back then. He is notably unfamiliar with modern subcultures, internet slang, and viral trends, frequently relying on his younger colleagues to keep him informed or taking extra lessons to keep up with unfamiliar concepts.
