Jane Doe

Overview

Jane Doe is a Physical Anomaly agent in Zenless Zone Zero who serves as an external consultant on criminal behavior for the New Eridu Public Security's Criminal Investigation Special Operations Team. Specializing in high-risk undercover operations, she routinely infiltrates criminal syndicates under various aliases. While she humorously claims to be a cat Thiren of a rare bloodline, she is actually a mouse Thiren whose identity and true name remain strictly concealed.

Appearance

Standing 170 cm tall, Jane Doe has black hair cut in a jellyfish style—appearing as a bob from the front with a long tail-like strand in the back—featuring red and black gradient tips, paired with blue-green eyes and rat ears. She wears a grey cropped jacket, a red and black necktie, a low-cut black inner top with lace detailing, high-waisted black fitted shorts, fingerless black gloves, red nail polish, torn black sheer tights, and mid-calf boots. She carries a pink pouch at her waist and possesses a rat tail equipped with a mechanical lock-picking tool at its tip.

Personality

Jane Doe exhibits a flirtatious, teasing, and highly elusive demeanor, often speaking with playful irony and casual deception. Despite her sharp tongue and willingness to employ dirty tactics to achieve her mission goals, she is fundamentally empathetic. She actively minimizes harm to innocent bystanders and hostages behind the scenes, balancing her cynical pragmatism with genuine care for others.

Abilities

Jane Doe fights in close quarters using paired Karambit knives called Crimson Shards and hidden boot blades, executing lightning-fast slashes and multi-hit kicks inspired by figure skating moves like the Salchow Jump. Engaging in dodges or parries builds Passion Stream, allowing her to enter a Passion state. In this boosted state, her Physical Anomaly buildup rate and attack power rise significantly, enabling her to inflict the Gnaw effect on targets to increase Passion buildup and trigger critical Anomaly hits.

Background

With her real name completely erased from official records, Jane Doe acts as an undercover operative, slipping between multiple disguises and aliases. During her assignment within the Mountain Lions gang, she strategically earned the trust of its leader while orchestrating behind-the-scenes protections for captured personnel, including rookie officer Seth Lowell. Her intelligence gathering culminated in locating the gang's hidden stronghold and neutralizing its leadership. She continues to handle confidential investigations assigned directly by Public Security superiors.

Relationships

Jane Doe works closely alongside Public Security members Zhu Yuan, Qingyi, and Seth Lowell under the command of Severian Lowell. During her undercover operation, she developed a teasing yet protective dynamic with the idealistic rookie Seth, eventually fighting together to bring down their common target. She is also acquainted with the siblings Wise and Belle from the Random Play video store, as well as her colleague Xixi.

Trivia

Her name is taken from the legal placeholder for an unidentified female in English-speaking regions. True to her mouse traits, she has a habit of hoarding instant noodles and energy bars in her living space and prefers simple pork bone ramen. Her phone design resembles a pink slider feature phone. Additionally, her combat data serves as the foundation for the formidable Doppelganger enemy encountered within Hollow exploration.
