Vivian Banshee

Overview

Vivian Banshee is a character in Zenless Zone Zero, serving as an Ether-attribute Anomaly Agent affiliated with the phantom thief group Mockingbird. Although she carries the refined air of a highborn young lady, she leads a surprisingly busy life working multiple part-time jobs. She holds a passionate devotion to the legendary Proxy known as Phaethon, acting as an extremely avid supporter whenever her idol is involved.

Appearance

Vivian features pale skin, pointy ears, red eyes with vertical pupils, and a mole under her left eye. Her light purple hair is styled in ringlets with ribboned braids and a headdress. She wears a black-and-white gothic dress with a corset and overskirt that leaves her back and sides significantly exposed. Her attire includes patterned black stockings, high heels, and black nail polish. Beneath her skirt are four propulsion thrusters. She carries a classical parasol titled Bird's Pilgrimage, which features mockingbird embroidery and conceals a sharp silver rapier inside its handle.

Personality

Vivian usually speaks in a polite manner and maintains a cold, aloof exterior toward strangers, yet she shows a caring side to those she trusts. She harbors a passionate loyalty toward Phaethon and exhibits a zero-tolerance attitude toward anyone who disrespects her idol. Due to a unique trait where she sheds uncontrollable tears whenever predicting someone else's impending misfortune, she suffered ostracization in her youth, leaving her with low self-esteem despite her active lifestyle.

Abilities

In combat, she uses her parasol lance and hidden rapier to deal Physical and Ether damage. The thrusters beneath her skirt grant her the ability to float at low altitudes for aerial assaults, while the opened parasol serves as a sturdy shield. She possesses an involuntary foresight that reveals impending disasters to her, accompanied by uncontrollable tears. Battle-wise, she excels at off-field support, delivering coordinated Ether follow-up attacks when allies trigger anomaly effects.

Background

Driven to despair during her youth due to the backlash over her fortune-predicting tears, Vivian gained the strength to live after receiving a kind message from Phaethon on the internet. She was later taken in by Hugo, joining Mockingbird and learning various phantom thief techniques from him. Having spent time within an organization called the Praise Society during her past, she later teams up with the Proxies to confront unresolved issues and schemes stemming from that period.

Relationships

Vivian deeply worships Phaethon (Wise and Belle) as her personal savior, often revealing her intense fan side when interacting with them. Within Mockingbird, Hugo Villard treats her like a younger sister and passed down his thief techniques to her. She acts as a dependable mentor to her part-time work junior, Squi. Additionally, she shares a troubled history with Tina and Camille from her days in the Praise Society.

Trivia

Vivian actively works up to five different part-time jobs in a single day across various businesses like ramen shops and boutiques. She has a remarkably dutiful side, frequently turning lost items into the local security authorities. Her fanatical love for Phaethon has also led her to craft custom merchandise and compose original fan music.
