Overview
Lighter is a playable character in Zenless Zone Zero and a male Agent affiliated with the Sons of Calydon, an Outer Ring faction in New Eridu. Operating as a Fire-attribute Stun agent, he holds the title of "Undefeated Champion" within his group, acting as a combat negotiator and bodyguard to settle conflicts. Despite his aloof and cool demeanor, he plays a grounded, protective role among his eccentric companions, balancing a dark past in underground fighting with a loyal commitment to his current faction.
Appearance
Lighter has short green hair with bangs covering one eye, and green eyes with red pupils. He wears a classic black leather rider jacket, black pants, mid-calf boots, and a signature red scarf around his neck. He is regularly seen wearing sunglasses. On his right arm, he equips a spiked shoulder guard alongside a single right-handed power gauntlet named "K.O."
Personality
Though he projects a cynical and aloof facade, Lighter is fundamentally dependable and protective of his allies. He takes pride in his title as a champion and welcomes any challenger directly, yet demonstrates patience and sportsmanship after combat. Underneath his tough exterior lies a surprising gap: he suffers from hemophobia (fear of blood) and copes with stress by eating fruit-flavored lollipops, particularly grape. He also has a humorous tendency to misremember people's names.
Abilities
Lighter fights using close-quarters boxing techniques, relying on his right-handed mechanical gauntlet to deliver flame-infused strikes. His toolkit includes swift uppercuts like the "V-Style Sunrise Upper" and powerful area-of-effect flame ground-pounds. During continuous straight punch rushes, he can parry incoming ranged attacks such as bullets. By accumulating Morale through time and energy consumption, he enters a boosted state that enhances his impact, resistance reduction, and damage-buffing utility for Fire and Ice elements.
Background
Formerly the leader of an Outer Ring mercenary band, Lighter incurred massive debt to compensate the families of teammates lost due to his mistake. To pay off the money, he fought in the underground Ember Arena, enduring harsh injuries and throwing matches when demanded, while still ending high-profile win streaks. Eventually, Big Daddy cleared his debt and brought him into the Sons of Calydon, giving him his iconic red scarf. Taking over the title of champion from his predecessor Billy Kid, he now serves as the faction's chief enforcer.
Relationships
Lighter operates under Caesar King, the leader of the Sons of Calydon, alongside faction members Lucy, Piper Wheel, Burnice White, and Pulchra. He harbors immense gratitude toward Big Daddy for rescuing him from his debts. He respects Billy Kid as his predecessor, addressing him as a senior ("senpai") and desiring to fight him at his full potential. Through duel-based resolution, he also settles past grievances with former arena opponents like Barom and Anders.
Trivia
Lighter's name directly references a cigarette lighter, a motif incorporated into his promotional animations and his signature W-Engine, "Blazing Laurel." He rides a Bobber-style modified motorcycle featuring a low handlebar design and a horizontally opposed engine. His strike-heavy animations, combat voice lines, and side-scrolling agent story presentation pay homage to traditional arcade fighting games.
