Hashibira Inosuke

Overview

Hashibira Inosuke is a prominent character and Demon Slayer Corps swordsman in Kimetsu no Yaiba by Koyoharu Gotouge. Entering the organization alongside Kamado Tanjirou during the Final Selection, he is a feral young man who famously wears a hollowed boar's head mask. Though completely lacking in basic societal norms and aggressively competitive, he serves as a pivotal combatant utilizing his unique dual-blade fighting style and raw animal instincts.

Appearance

Despite his muscular frame, Inosuke possesses a strikingly feminine face featuring medium-length black hair with gradient blue tips and deep green eyes. He routinely goes topless, wearing standard Corps trousers accompanied by deer fur wrapped around his waist and bear fur near his feet. His signature feature is the real boar head skin he wears over his face, concealing his innate good looks.

Personality

Inosuke is defined by his hyper-aggressive and competitive spirit, frequently charging ahead while displaying extreme enthusiasm for contests of strength. Raised in the wilderness, he lacks basic social awareness, often mispronouncing others' names and acting brashly. Beneath his tough and hot-headed exterior, however, he is vulnerable to self-doubt when defeated and gradually develops a deep, protective affection for his companions as he experiences human warmth.

Abilities

Inosuke fights using Beast Breathing, a self-taught combat style derived from Wind Breathing, paired with two chipped Nichirin swords modified with serrated edges. He possesses exceptional spatial perception through a hyper-sensitive tactile sense that detects subtle air vibrations. Physically, he can dislocate his joints at will, temporarily shift the layout of his internal organs to avoid critical wounds, and boasts a high natural immunity to toxic substances.

Background

Separated from his biological mother in infancy, Inosuke was raised by a wild boar in the mountains. He picked up human speech from an elderly man living near the mountain slope. After defeating a wandering Demon Slayer in a contest of strength, he took the fighter's swords and entered the Final Selection uninvited. Joining forces with Tanjirou and Agatsuma Zenitsu, he grew from a self-centered wild child into a key warrior who fought valiantly through major battles against upper-rank demons.

Relationships

He shares a strong bond with fellow swordsmen Kamado Tanjirou and Agatsuma Zenitsu, who initially struggled with his wild behavior but came to form a cohesive unit. During the fight against the upper-rank demon Douma, his past connected him to Kochou Shinobu and Tsuyuri Kanao. Following the end of the conflict with demons, he developed a romantic bond with Kanzaki Aoi, eventually starting a family with her.

Trivia

His favorite food is tempura. He has a unique habit of purposely chipping new Nichirin swords with stones because he prefers the jagged, saw-like feel. His Kasugai crow, Oakmaru, routinely stays hidden out of fear of being eaten by him. During his undercover mission in the Entertainment District, his disguise under the name Inoko still revealed his striking natural beauty once his heavy makeup was acknowledged.
