Overview

Makio is a character from the manga and anime series Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is a skilled kunoichi and one of the three wives of the former Sound Hashira, Uzui Tengen, to whom she is also related by blood. Alongside her co-wives, Hinatsuru and Suma, she receives equal love and respect from their husband, acting as a crucial ally in his fight against demons by providing intelligence and operational support.

Appearance

Makio has black hair styled in a high ponytail with distinctive blonde front bangs, alongside golden eyes and a prominent forehead featuring a scar. She wears a sleeveless, short red kimono with a low-cut neckline that leaves her shoulders and legs bare.

Personality

Makio possesses a bold, energetic, and highly fiery temperament. Quick to anger, she frequently scolds and hits the cowardly Suma whenever she starts crying or making noise. Despite her sharp tongue, she is deeply earnest and devoted. She fulfills a middle-sister role among the three wives, balancing Hinatsuru's calmness and Suma's timidness.

Abilities

Makio possesses the highest physical capabilities among Uzui Tengen's three wives. She is trained in shinobi infiltration techniques, allowing her to disguise herself as a courtesan to gather intelligence. Although her short temper can sometimes lead to mistakes during missions, she is a capable combatant who can effectively engage enemy threats.

Background

Raised in a shinobi clan, Makio fled her village with Uzui Tengen and her co-wives to support the Demon Slayer Corps. During an investigation in the Entertainment District, she infiltrated the Ogimoto House but was captured and tortured by the Upper Rank demon Daki, who sealed her inside an obi sash beneath the earth. After being liberated by Hashibira Inosuke, she immediately rejoined the battle. Following the conflict, she helped prepare meals for corps members during Hashira training.

Relationships

She shares a strong, devoted bond with her husband, Uzui Tengen. Within the household, she respects Hinatsuru as the mature eldest-sister figure and consults her on difficult matters. Conversely, she acts as a stern older sister to Suma, constantly disciplining her for being overly emotional, though the two remain close companions.

Trivia

In the spin-off Kimetsu Academy, she works in the school cafeteria alongside Hinatsuru, where she is known for her lighting-fast movements and fiery temper. The dynamic among Tengen's three wives—Suma, Makio, and Hinatsuru—mirrors the personality archetypes of Agatsuma Zenitsu, Hashibira Inosuke, and Kamado Tanjiro, respectively.
