Background
Orphaned about ten years prior to the story, Makomo was taken in and raised by Sakonji Urokodaki. During her Final Selection, she used her agility against the Hand Demon, but lost her composure upon hearing how her fellow disciples were slain. This disrupted her breathing, allowing the demon to overpower and kill her. Her spirit remained at Mount Sagiri to assist Tanjiro Kamado, eventually finding peace after the demon's defeat and later reincarnating as a primary school student in modern Tokyo.
Relationships
Makomo adores her master Sakonji Urokodaki as a father figure. She shared a close bond with fellow orphan Sabito, with whom she remained even in spirit to mentor Kamado Tanjiro. She patiently guided Tanjiro through the mechanics of Total Concentration Breathing. She is also connected to Giyu Tomioka as a fellow practitioner of Water Breathing. In the spin-off Kimetsu Academy, she is depicted as a close classmate and friend of Nezuko Kamado.
