Overview

Yahaba is an antagonist in the manga and anime series "Kimetsu no Yaiba." Serving directly under Kibutsuji Muzan, he is dispatched alongside Susamaru to assassinate Kamado Tanjiro. Appearing as a young man wearing a Buddhist rosary around his neck, he utilizes a Blood Demon Art centered around vector manipulation via unique eyes on his palms. He is characterized by extreme mysophobia and a highly neurotic temperament, loathing any dirt on his attire while striving to earn his master's approval.

Appearance

Yahaba takes the form of a young man with pale skin, a prominent forehead, and an eyebrowless face. He has black hair and gold eyes on his face, though he routinely keeps his facial eyelids closed. His most prominent physical trait is a pair of eyes embedded in the palms of both hands, which feature arrow-shaped pupils. He wears a traditional kimono and carries a Buddhist rosary around his neck.

Personality

Yahaba possesses a highly neurotic and intensely mysophobic personality. He reviles dirt or dust on his clothing and body, frequently expressing irritation whenever his partner Susamaru creates clouds of dust through her violent attacks. He speaks with an archaic self-referential style. Possessing absolute loyalty and a strong craving for Kibutsuji Muzan's approval, he exhibits extreme fury when failing his mission or when forced into contact with dirty ground during his final moments.

Abilities

Yahaba wields the Blood Demon Art "Koketsu Arrow," activated by opening and closing the eyes on his palms. This technique produces invisible red arrows that alter the force vectors of anything they touch. He can manipulate enemy body positioning, hurl opponents into the air, deflect Nichirin sword strikes, and redirect Susamaru's thrown temari balls. Additionally, he can examine footprints on the ground to determine target identity, group size, and destination. The arrows cannot be cut by Nichirin swords and activate sequentially in the order they were summoned.

Background

In Asakusa, Yahaba received blood directly from Kibutsuji Muzan along with orders to decapitate Kamado Tanjiro, the demon slayer wearing hanafuda-styled earrings. Teaming up with Susamaru—whom he met for the first time during this mission—he tracked Tanjiro's footprints to Tamayo's hidden residence. Believing himself to be one of the Twelve Kizuki due to Muzan's deception, he engaged Tanjiro in battle. Although his vector manipulation initially overwhelmed his opponent, Yushiro shared his vision to reveal the invisible arrows, allowing Tanjiro to counter the technique with Water Breathing and decapitate him. Yahaba launched a final barrage of arrows in a desperate attempt to drag Tanjiro to the grave before disintegrating.

Relationships

Yahaba held profound reverence for his master Kibutsuji Muzan and sought his recognition above all else, unaware that Muzan had deceived him into believing he was a member of the Twelve Kizuki. During the attack on Tamayo's retreat, he was paired with Susamaru; despite constantly complaining about her messy destruction, the two exhibited remarkable tactical synergy. He viewed Kamado Tanjiro strictly as a target to be executed, but was ultimately defeated when Yushiro and Tamayo exposed the mechanism of his Blood Demon Art.

Trivia

According to official fanbook records, Yahaba's extreme mysophobia predates his transformation into a demon, having been present during his human life. Furthermore, his facial eyes are not blind; he keeps them closed simply because he finds using the eyes on his palms far more convenient. In the official spin-off work "Kimetsu Academy!", he appears as a third-year high school student in the Mole Class, serving as the archery club captain and coming from a family that runs a tofu shop.
