Sekido

Overview

Sekido is an antagonist in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a demon split from the Upper Rank Four Hantengu, embodying the intense rage of the original body. Serving as the default leader among Hantengu's primary emotional clones, Sekido directs their battle efforts while relentlessly pursuing the destruction of the Demon Slayer Corps.

Appearance

Sekido appears as a young male demon with shoulder-length wavy dark hair, red eyes featuring colored sclera, pointy ears, and curved horns growing from his forehead. His face displays crack-like markings, and his fingernails are red. The kanji character for anger is inscribed on his tongue. He wears a dark, patterned long-sleeved Japanese kimono draped loosely off his shoulders.

Personality

True to his nature, Sekido is perpetually enraged, highly aggressive, and utterly lacking in patience. He becomes easily infuriated by any perceived slowness or lighthearted demeanor in his fellow clones. Taking a stern and commanding stance, he constantly scolds and berates Karaku, Urogi, and Aizetsu for their incompetence or lack of battle urgency.

Abilities

Sekido fights using a khakkhara staff crafted from his own flesh, through which he projects high-powered red lightning over a wide area. This electrical attack inflicts severe burns and paralytic shock, immobilizing combatants like Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, and Genya Shinazugawa. Additionally, he can forcibly absorb Karaku, Urogi, and Aizetsu into his body to initiate a powerful evolution into Zohakuten.

Background

Sekido comes into being during the Swordsmith Village Arc when the Upper Rank demon Hantengu splits into emotional clones to defend himself. He engages in intense combat against Demon Slayers Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, and Genya Shinazugawa, pressuring them with heavy lightning strikes. As the conflict reaches a turning point, he forcefully consumes his fellow offshoots to emerge as Zohakuten.

Relationships

Sekido is one of the emotional clones created by the Upper Rank Four demon Hantengu. He shares a connection with his fellow clones Karaku, Urogi, and Aizetsu, though he frequently expresses contempt for their relaxed behavior before ultimately absorbing them into himself to create Zohakuten. He maintains a hostile relationship with Demon Slayers Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, and Genya Shinazugawa.

Trivia

Sekido's name and the character engraved on his tongue both center on the kanji for anger, emphasizing his fundamental trait. Among Hantengu's four initial split entities, Sekido is the only clone who actively initiates the physical absorption of his counterparts to form Zohakuten.
