Appearance

Personality

Flamme possesses an eccentric and somewhat cynical demeanor, balanced by a caring, big-sisterly nature. She harbors a profound love for magic and envisioned a peaceful era where anyone could study it freely. However, having lost her parents and village to demons, she holds a deep hatred for them and adopts a ruthless, practical mindset, holding no aversion to using deceitful tactics to eradicate them. While she imparts peculiar advice to her apprentice Frieren, she cares deeply for her long-term well-being.

Abilities

As a grand mage, Flamme possesses extraordinary magic power, capable of casting massive explosion spells and erecting powerful barrier magic that remains unbreached even a thousand years after her death. She can also create materials and construct functional magic golems. Her signature combat strategy involves continuously suppressing her mana output to extreme limits, inducing false confidence in opponents before striking them down by surprise. Her favorite spell, taught by her parents, is the magic that creates a field of flowers.

Background

After learning flower-creation magic from her parents in childhood, Flamme lost her family when demons destroyed her hometown. rescued by Serie, she became her apprentice. Later, she reached the land of Aureole in the far north and recorded her findings. Upon saving the young elf Frieren from a demon attack, she took her in as a student, training her in combat and mana suppression techniques. Flamme dedicated her later life to advocating for human magic research with the Imperial court before passing away of old age alongside Frieren.

Relationships

Serie, the great elven mage, served as Flamme's teacher and savior, though the two held differing views on the dissemination of magic. Frieren is Flamme's sole apprentice, inheriting her combat techniques and magic philosophy. Fern is her grand-disciple, continuing the line of her magical legacy through Frieren.

Trivia

Her name derives from the German word for "flame." Over the centuries following her death, historical distortions led to public monuments in regions like the Northern Empire inaccurately erecting statues that depict her as a muscular man.
