He is a male human Third-Class Mage who participates in the First-Class Mage Exam held by the Continental Magic Association. During the exam's first stage, he is assigned to Party 8 alongside Wirbel and Ehre. Appearance

Scharf is a tall man with black hair and black eyes. His hairstyle features swept-back hair with long bangs, accompanied by distinct sanpaku eyes. He wears long sleeves secured around the waist with a belt.

Personality

On the surface, Scharf appears distant, taciturn, and cool-headed, often displaying confidence while engaged in battle. However, when pushed into a tight corner, he quickly exhibits a reliant, easily shaken nature, contrastingly depending heavily on his teammates. Although he generally avoids interacting with people outside his immediate circle, he forms friendly bonds with those he fights alongside through shared experiences.

Abilities

Scharf is a self-taught Third-Class Mage who invented his own specialized magic. His primary spell transforms soft flower petals into steel-hard weapons and shields, allowing him to seamlessly alternate between offense and defense. To ensure he can cast this spell anywhere, he can produce bouquets of flowers at will. However, his mastery of fundamental skills such as mana detection remains unrefined, leaving him susceptible to deceptive tactics like clone magic.

Background

Twenty-nine years after the passing of Hero Himmel, Scharf travels to Oysaerst to sit for the First-Class Mage Exam. Placed in Party 8 with Wirbel and Ehre, he battles Land during the first stage, where he falls victim to Land's clone and paralysis magic. Immobilized, he relies on Wirbel's levitation magic to proceed, eventually qualifying for the second test. In the Ruins of the King's Tomb, he assists his party in defeating the water mirror clones. During the final stage, an interview with Serie, he is disqualified after showing instinctual dread toward her immense mana. Following the exam, he bids farewell to his teammates at the imperial port.

Relationships

Scharf places immense trust in Wirbel, who led Party 8, relying on him for rescue when incapacitated and receiving encouragement from him after failing the exam. He shares a solid comradeship with Ehre from their joint exam efforts. During the first test, Land outsmarted him using clones to neutralize him. Between exam phases, he develops a friendly rapport with Stark while handling a monster task. During his final interview, he experiences overwhelming fear in the presence of Serie.

His name, Scharf, is derived from the German word meaning sharp or keen. His signature spell reflects this naming theme by combining delicate floral elements with razor-sharp steel forms.
