Overview
Lugner is a male demon character from "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End." He serves as the head of the Executioners under Aura the Guillotine, one of the Seven Sages of Destruction. Presenting himself with the refined demeanor of a gentleman, he is in truth a ruthless and deceitful demon who leads a covert mission to infiltrate Count Granat's domain and disable its protective barrier.
Appearance
Lugner has long blonde hair with parted bangs, blue eyes, and two demon horns projecting upward from the top of his head. He wears a blue jacket over grey pants, accented by a white ascot around his neck.
Personality
He is calm, analytical, and arrogant. Having dedicated his life to honing his craft, he harbors deep jealousy and contempt toward natural geniuses who possess immense strength without effort. Viewing human speech merely as a convenient instrument for manipulation, he feigns human emotional concepts like family grief to deceive others. Though fully aware of his nature as a predatory monster, his excessive pride often leads him to underestimate his opponents.
Abilities
He is a master of the blood-manipulation spell Baruterie. This magic allows him to shape and harden his own blood into whips or blades for attack and defense, affix blood to targets as tracking markers, and fill in damaged flesh or stanch wounds to maintain high combat endurance. He can also form items, such as a magic staff, directly from his blood.
Background
Having survived a past encounter with Frieren, he later mobilizes under Aura following the death of Himmel the Hero. Leading his subordinates Draht and Linie, he enters Count Granat's territory under the pretense of negotiating peace, intending to dismantle the city's protective barrier. After their true motives are exposed, he enters direct conflict with the city's defenders alongside Fern and Stark.
Relationships
He operates under Aura the Guillotine and commands his subordinates Linie and Draht. During his interaction with Count Granat, he exploited the concept of a father to manipulate the grieving noble. In his final battle against Fern, he initially disdained her due to her low apparent mana, but was ultimately defeated when he realized too late that she had been suppressing her magic energy to catch him off guard.
Trivia
His name, Lügner, is derived from the German word for "liar."
