Appearance
He possesses a muscular build with tan skin, small dark pupils, and unruly long black hair. The remnants of his Hollow mask sit atop his head in the form of a bird's skull. Red, stripe-like facial and body markings extend from around his eyes across his upper body. He wears sleeves fitted with black tassels on both arms, giving him an appearance similar to that of a native tribal warrior.
Personality
Abirama is wild, hot-blooded, and eager for violent conflict. He demands raw excitement from battle and despises underhanded tricks, requiring his opponents to match his intense spirit. Before fighting, he habitually screams at the top of his lungs in a morale-boosting ritual and expects his foe to join in. Confident in his bravery, he considers himself the most dependable warrior serving his master.
Abilities
His Zanpakutō release is Águila, activated with the command 'Scalp him!'. Upon releasing, he transforms into a bird-like form adorned with a red mane. He commands heavy wings as hard as steel, allowing him to fire a rapid, endless volley of shell-hard feathers using Devorar Pluma, or generate protective gusts with Purūma Biento. By scratching his body markings, he can execute Devorar Eruption to double his wings to four, boosting his size and power.
Background
Accompanying Baraggan to the Fake Karakura Town, Abirama was tasked with destroying one of the pillars protecting the zone. He engaged in combat against Izuru Kira. During the battle, he taunted Kira regarding his former captain after his pre-fight ritual was mocked. Though Abirama initially gained the upper hand by taking to the air in his released form, his mobility was crippled when Kira multiplied the weight of his wings, bringing him down to the ground.
Relationships
He serves the 2nd Espada, Baraggan Louisenbairn, displaying absolute deference and pride in being his subordinate. During his duel with the Shinigami Izuru Kira, tension flared when Kira ridiculed his pre-battle ritual and when Abirama mockingly brought up Gin Ichimaru.
Trivia
His ritual of screaming to build excitement before a fight was dryly dismissed by his opponent as a childish game. There are subtle differences between the original manga and the animated adaptation regarding his final desperate attack after being grounded.
