Lille Barro

Overview

Lille Barro is a character from Tite Kubo's manga series BLEACH. He is a Quincy serving as the leader of the Schutzstaffel, an elite group of guards protecting Yhwach within the Wandenreich's Sternritter. He holds the Sternritter designation "X," representing "The X-Axis." As the very first Quincy to be granted a Schrift by Yhwach, Lille harbors supreme pride in his status, proudly deeming himself Yhwach's ultimate creation and the individual nearest to God.

Appearance

Lille is a dark-skinned man with short pale yellow hair and a black crosshair-shaped tattoo over his left eye, which he keeps closed. He wears a green fur bicorne hat adorned with small Wandenreich emblems on both sides, a dark green fur pauldron on his right shoulder, a light-colored sleeveless shirt, dark green pants with white accents, and light shoes. His white gloves feature feathered wings and an embroidered "X." Upon releasing his Vollständig, Jilliel, his head becomes covered with a pale striped surface topped by a horned halo, accompanied by white robes and eight hole-filled wings. His final evolution turns him into a long-necked, bird-headed, four-legged creature with bat-like wings.

Personality

Highly cautious and observant, Lille is a decisive combatant who prioritizes efficiency, leaving no room for enemies to recover. Despite his pragmatic approach in battle, he possesses a deeply arrogant and narcissistic nature. Confident in his invincibility, he often holds back his true power. He holds immense contempt for anyone who acts without adequate preparation, including his allies. However, when injured by opponents he considers inferior, he easily loses his composure, becoming erratic, excessively talkative, and flippant.

Abilities

Lille utilizes a large black sniper rifle named Diagramm to fire high-density Reishi. His Schrift, The X-Axis, allows him to pierce anything within his line of sight without actual projectiles, bypassing any defenses. Opening his left eye three times enables his Vollständig, Jilliel, which grants him immunity to physical and Kido attacks, high-speed Reishi teleportation, and the ability to fire piercing rays from his wings. In his final transformed state, he can cast Judgement Light to obliterate vast landscapes or summon a giant horn to blast the devastating Trumpet wave.

Background

As the first Quincy to receive a Schrift from Yhwach, Lille serves as the captain of the Schutzstaffel. During the invasion of the Royal Realm, he engaged the Royal Guard in battle. Although struck down initially, he was resurrected and empowered by Yhwach's Auswählen, easily piercing through the Royal Guard's defenses. Later at Wahrwelt, he fought a fierce duel against Shunsui Kyoraku. Even after having his head severed by Kyoraku's Bankai, Lille mutated into a monstrous final form. He was ultimately defeated when Nanao Ise used the Shinken Hakkyoken to reflect his own powers back at him, causing him to shatter into countless lesser bird-like fragments.

Relationships

Lille holds absolute loyalty to his master, Yhwach, taking immense pride in leading the Schutzstaffel as the Emperor's top warrior. During the assault on Wahrwelt, he engaged in a deadly duel with Shunsui Kyoraku, the Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13. He was ultimately defeated by Nanao Ise, Kyoraku's Lieutenant, who confronted him with the sacred treasure Shinken Hakkyoken, reflecting Lille's divine attacks back onto him.

Trivia

The conceptual motif for his character and abilities is drawn from the Archangel Gabriel, who sounds the herald of judgement day. The bird-like fragments of his body that rained down upon the Seireitei after his defeat were subsequently confronted and cleared away by Izuru Kira and his allies. Unlike the other members of the Schutzstaffel, who possess parts of the Soul King within them, Lille relies entirely on the Schrift granted to him by Yhwach.
