Overview
Honshou Chizuru is a supporting character in the manga and anime series BLEACH. She is a student at Karakura High School and a classmate of Ichigo Kurosaki and Orihime Inoue. Recognized by her short red hair and glasses, she primarily serves as a comedic presence within the core group of high school friends.
Appearance
She is a high school girl who wears glasses and has short red hair.
Personality
Chizuru is an openly proud lesbian with an overwhelming affection for girls. She is deeply obsessed with Orihime Inoue, frequently making shamelessly inappropriate jokes and attempting physical contact, which routinely results in violent physical retaliation from Tatsuki Arisawa. Although portrayed as a reckless comic relief pervert, she is genuinely devoted to her friends. When controlled against her will by a Hollow, she suffered intense guilt over hurting her classmates and tearfully implored them to escape.
Abilities
As a result of spending time around Ichigo Kurosaki, her spiritual energy gradually increased over time. In the animated adaptation, she also acts as a member of the superhero team Karakuraizer.
Background
While attending Karakura High School, Chizuru was targeted by the Hollow Numb Chandelier, which took control of her body and forced her to attack Orihime Inoue and Tatsuki Arisawa while she consciously resisted inside. Following the resolution of the incident, she returned to her normal routine. During the Arrancar arc, when unusual supernatural phenomena struck Karakura Town, she stuck close to Tatsuki Arisawa, Keigo Asano, and Mizuiro Kojima while coping with the confusing environment.
Relationships
Chizuru harbors an intense romantic obsession with Orihime Inoue, constantly looking for opportunities to make unwanted physical moves. She receives harsh physical discipline from Tatsuki Arisawa whenever she behaves inappropriately, though the two share a deep friendship. Her proximity to Ichigo Kurosaki influences her developing spiritual senses, and she maintains a familiar friendship with classmates such as Keigo Asano and Mizuiro Kojima.
Trivia
When an illustration she drew was submitted for the official fanbook Karaburi, it was replaced in the final print by a drawing made by Rukia Kuchiki. She is also notable for making highly explicit, boundary-pushing jokes that were unusually suggestive for a mainstream shounen title.
