Sode no Shirayuki
Sode no Shirayuki is an ice-type Zanpakuto wielded by Rukia Kuchiki in BLEACH. Featuring an entirely white blade, hilt, and tsuba, it is celebrated as the most beautiful Zanpakuto in all of Soul Society. Its release command is "Mae, Sode no Shirayuki." In the anime-original Zanpakuto Unknown Tales arc, she appears in a materialized humanoid form.

Appearance
In her materialized form, Sode no Shirayuki appears as a beautiful woman reminiscent of a Yuki-onna, featuring silver hair and traditional white attire.
Personality
As a Zanpakuto, her nature reflects Rukia Kuchiki's inner strength, compassion, and underlying vulnerability born from guilt. While under Muramasa's spell, she harbored deep resentment toward her wielder, desiring freedom over her own power. After being restored, she demonstrates a surprisingly airheaded demeanor, often eliciting exasperated reactions from Rukia.
Abilities
Sode no Shirayuki's true power is lowering the body temperature of anything touching the blade, capable of reaching absolute zero (-273.15°C). Her named techniques include Some no Mai, Tsukishiro, which freezes a circular space; Tsugi no Mai, Hakuren, which fires a massive avalanche of cold air; and San no Mai, Shirafune, which forms a blade of ice to replace a broken weapon. In her physical form, she can project freezing cold directly from her hands, as well as utilize Kido and footwork techniques. Her Bankai is Hakka no Togame.
Background
Rukia Kuchiki mastered her early ice dances during training sessions with Kaien Shiba. During the Zanpakuto Rebellion, Muramasa released her physical form, manipulating her into turning against her master. Though she began to understand Rukia during their duel, she was subsequently cut down by Byakuya Kuchiki as proof of his loyalty to the rebellion. Later, Mayuri Kurotsuchi cured her condition, allowing her to reconcile fully with Rukia.
Relationships
She shares a profound bond with her master, Rukia Kuchiki, returning to a harmonious relationship after her freedom is restored. During the rebellion, she faced Byakuya Kuchiki in combat and was defeated by him. Her foundational techniques were developed through training alongside Kaien Shiba.
Trivia
Reaching absolute zero renders the user's body extremely brittle and creates a severe risk of self-destruction. Additionally, the freezing effect cannot be safely applied to the body's neural network.
