Overview
Pesche Guatiche is a character from BLEACH. He is Arrancar No. 41 and a loyal Fracción serving the former Espada, Neliel Tu Oderschvank. Initially dwelling in the deserts of Hueco Mundo alongside his companions, he becomes involved in the major conflict after meeting Ichigo Kurosaki and his allies. Although he primarily functions as a lighthearted comic relief figure, Pesche conceals high combat capability and unwavering dedication to his master.
Appearance
Pesche wears a Hollow mask resembling an ant or a stag beetle and features a grey body. His attire consists of body armor protectors attached to various locations and an outfit shaped like a loincloth. In his past form, the mask did not cover his entire face, exposing human-like skin, though his full features were obscured by a cloth covering.
Personality
Pesche possesses a unique mindset and memory pattern, constantly assuming a comedic role. He frequently agitates the calm Uryu Ishida by mistakenly addressing him as Ichigo and calling him a thief for taking hospital equipment. Beneath his eccentric behavior, however, he is profoundly devoted and sensible. When acting to defend his master Neliel Tu Oderschvank, he completely discards his foolish persona, adopting a stern and serious demeanor.
Abilities
Pesche carries a light-bladed sword named Ultima inside his loincloth, which possesses enough power to injure an Espada and fire a Cero. He can spew a slippery fluid from his mouth using Infinite Slick, which absorbs and nullifies attack impacts while causing targets to lose footing. Combined with Dondo Chakka Birstanne, he uses Cero Syncretico by riding on his partner and aligning his sword's Cero with Dondo Chakka's mouth cannon blast into a single multiplied beam. He also utilizes a technique known as Super Acceleration.
Background
Pesche previously served Espada Neliel Tu Oderschvank as a Fracción. After being ambushed from behind by Nnoitra Gilga and Szayelaporro Granz, his mask was forcibly removed, and he was cast out of Las Noches into the desert. To shield their master—who had regressed into an amnesiac child—from battle, he and Dondo Chakka Birstanne posed as her elder brothers while living in hiding. Upon sensing Neliel's awakening following Ichigo Kurosaki's arrival, Pesche resumed his duties as her protector on the battlefield.
Relationships
Pesche is bound by absolute loyalty to his master, Neliel Tu Oderschvank, having trained continuously in secret to protect her. He maintains a deep bond of trust with fellow Fracción Dondo Chakka Birstanne, executing powerful unified attacks with him. While traveling through Las Noches, he partners with Uryu Ishida, frequently driving the latter to exasperation with his antics. He holds strong resentment toward Nnoitra Gilga and Szayelaporro Granz for their past betrayal.
Trivia
The unsheathing action of pulling his sword Ultima out from his loincloth is visually ambiguous, frequently causing bewilderment for both adversaries and bystanders. Due to his energetic antics and bizarre dialog, he functions as a prominent mood maker within the series.
