Ging Freecss is a fiercely independent and self-centered individual who prioritizes personal enjoyment and the journey itself above all else. Background
Born on Whale Island, Ging Freecss departed home just before turning twelve and became the sole successful applicant of the 267th Hunter Exam. By age fifteen, he created a non-profit organization to restore royal tombs, establishing global standards for ruins conservation. Ten years after leaving home, he returned with an infant Gon Freecss and left him in the care of his cousin Mito Freecss. He later served as the primary leader in creating the Nen-exclusive game Greed Island alongside ten companions. During the Chairman Election arc, he reappeared among the Zodiacs, eventually reuniting with Gon atop the World Tree after a public clash with Leorio Paradinight, before resigning from the Zodiacs to join Beyond Netero's Dark Continent expedition.

He is held in high esteem as a legendary figure by his student Kite and examiner Satotz. While respected for his overwhelming strength by Isaac Netero and Biscuit Krueger, his uncooperative nature alienates his fellow Zodiac members. During the election, his refusal to visit a hospitalized Gon prompted a fiery confrontation in which he was publicly punched by Leorio Paradinight.
Trivia
Despite accomplishing historic feats in ruins excavation worthy of Triple-Star status, Ging Freecss remains a Double-Star Hunter simply because he finds the application process too tedious. He commands authority equivalent to a head of state along with massive financial wealth, and his personal data is completely classified online. The letter G in the title of the game Greed Island, which he directed, stands for his first name.
