Phinks Magcub

Overview

Phinks Magcub is a character in HUNTER×HUNTER. He is one of the founding members of the Phantom Troupe, holding position No. 5 within the organization. Hailing from Meteor City, he is an Enhancer-type Nen user who combines immense physical strength and a quick temper with a strong sense of loyalty to his group.

Appearance

He features short brown hair slicked back. His clothing alternates between a distinctive costume consisting of an Egyptian pharaoh-style headpiece and cape, and a simple tracksuit. He is also depicted wearing a white shirt underneath a green jacket paired with pants.

Personality

Short-tempered, boisterous, and highly combative, Phinks is quick to anger yet capable of calm judgment when required. While he purports to prioritize group rules above personal feelings, he possesses a deeply caring nature toward his comrades. He honors the wishes of fallen members, expresses sincere appreciation when appropriate, and shows an endearing side through his love of video games and intense concern for his leader.

Abilities

As an Enhancer, Phinks possesses outstanding physical prowess, taking the top arm-wrestling rank in the Troupe following Uvogin's death. He can effortlessly snap the necks of opponents before they notice his movement. His Nen ability, Ripper Cyclotron, increases the aura and destructive output of his punch proportionately to how many times he rotates his arm, though he often finds it difficult to gauge the exact force required. He can also use En to search for objects or enemies, but the field is unstable and requires him to stay motionless.

Background

Raised in Meteor City, Phinks helped form the Phantom Troupe. During the events in Yorknew City, he initially questioned internal decisions but ultimately accepted Pakunoda's memory bullets and passed along her gratitude. Seeking an Exorcist, he later acquired a Greed Island game console alongside his allies. When Chimera Ants took over Meteor City, he returned home to eliminate the threats and grant peace to the mutated residents. He subsequently joined the Troupe aboard the Black Whale ship heading toward the Dark Continent.

Relationships

He frequently teams up with Feitan Portor, with whom he shares a close comradeship rooted in their shared love for battle. He harbors high respect and deep concern for the leader, Chrollo Lucilfer. Following Pakunoda's death, he honored her memory by thanking Gon Freecss and Killua Zoldyck. He also held a friendly rivalry with Uvogin regarding pure physical strength.

Trivia

Because of his extreme worry over Chrollo's safety, his fellow Troupe members once teased him for acting like a lovesick maiden. Additionally, fans often note a visual similarity between him and Andy from the manga series Undead Unluck.
