Mike

Overview

Mike is the giant guard dog of the Zoldyck family of assassins in Hunter x Hunter. Residing within the Zoldyck estate on Kukuroo Mountain, this formidable beast serves as a lethal physical barrier against any unauthorized intruders attempting to trespass on the family grounds.

Appearance

Mike is a gigantic wolf-like creature standing 377 centimeters tall and weighing 405 kilograms. The beast is covered in grey fur with a distinct purple hue, armed with massive sharp claws, and possesses blank, unfeeling eyes that show no trace of emotion.

Personality

Devoid of self-awareness and emotion, Mike functions purely to execute the single directive commanded by its masters. The creature displays complete detachment and shows no loyalty or affection even to the caretaker who feeds it daily, dealing with all rule-breakers in an utterly heartless manner.

Abilities

Possessing overwhelming physical strength due to its colossal size, Mike can instantly maul and devour any trespasser. It serves as a biological defense mechanism, capable of eliminating anyone who attempts to cross into the Zoldyck property without opening the heavy Testing Gates.

Background

Bred and maintained by the Zoldyck family, Mike guards the main entrance area of the Kukuroo Mountain estate. When Gon Freecss, Kurapika, and Leorio Paladiknight arrive at the property to retrieve Killua Zoldyck, they encounter the gruesome remains of past intruders and realize the terrifying threat Mike poses if they fail to enter through the official Testing Gates.

Relationships

Mike yields absolute obedience to the Zoldyck family members, including Killua Zoldyck. Although the estate groundskeeper Zebro feeds the beast on a daily basis, Mike harbors no personal attachment to him and would devour him if he used an improper entrance. For visitors like Gon Freecss and his allies, Mike's intense, bloodthirsty aura serves as an overwhelming deterrent.

Trivia

Although the name Mike (often written as 'Miko' or 'Mike' referring to calico pets in Japanese) sounds like a common domestic pet name, the character is a terrifying monster, creating a stark contrast between its name and nature.
