Overview

Haruta Shigemo is a minor antagonist in the series Jujutsu Kaisen, operating as a malicious Curse User allied with pseudo-Geto and his faction of cursed spirits. Possessing an androgynous appearance and a slender, frail frame, he is a sadistic bully who prioritizes his own amusement above all else by preying on vulnerable sorcerers. Throughout the narrative, notably during the Kyoto Goodwill Event arc and the Shibuya Incident arc, he carries out cowardice-driven surprise attacks against Jujutsu High personnel.

Appearance

He is a slender man of an androgynous physical build with brown eyes and blonde hair tied into a side ponytail. Beneath his eyes are six pink-purple triangular markings associated with his cursed technique. He wears a black outfit that leaves the right side of his upper torso exposed. For weaponry, he carries a sword cursed tool crafted by Juzo Kumiya, distinguished by a purplish-black human hand serving as its handle.

Personality

Haruta is exceptionally cruel and deceitful, driven entirely by a self-centered desire for personal entertainment. Aware of his own physical limitations, he avoids fair fights and takes pleasure in tormenting women, injured victims, and weak foes. While he typically maintains a flippant and cheerful front, any confrontation with formidable sorcerers like Kento Nanami quickly exposes his true cowardice, causing him to break down and pathetically beg for his life.

Abilities

His innate technique involves automatically erasing memories of minor everyday miracles to store up good fortune. When he receives fatal damage or faces mortal danger, this stored luck is expended automatically to allow his survival, though it does not heal wouds. The six markings under his eyes indicate the remaining count, but Haruta remains completely ignorant of how the technique functions. Additionally, his sword cursed tool can move independently when released, compensating for his lack of physical strength.

Background

Aligned with pseudo-Geto's group, Haruta participates in the invasion of the Kyoto Goodwill Event, ambushing Utahime Iori, Nobara Kugisaki, and Mai Zen'in before retreating when the curtain drops. During the Shibuya Incident, he is tasked with assassinating auxiliary managers, stabbing Kiyotaka Ijichi and Akari Nitta. He is confronted and thoroughly beaten by Kento Nanami, surviving the relentless attack only by consuming all his stored miracles. He later ambushes a weakened Megumi Fushiguro, who drags Haruta into a fatal ritual summoning Mahoraga. Although Ryomen Sukuna steps in to defeat Mahoraga, he casually cleaves Haruta in half as the latter attempts to walk away, ending his life instantly.

Relationships

He operates alongside pseudo-Geto, Mahito, Uraume, and Juzo Kumiya, with Kumiya personally forging his hand-hilted sword. On the Jujutsu High side, his brutal attacks on auxiliary managers Kiyotaka Ijichi and Akari Nitta provoke intense fury from Kento Nanami, who handily overpowers him. His decision to ambush Megumi Fushiguro prompts Megumi to force him into the Mahoraga ritual, ultimately leading to his swift execution by Ryomen Sukuna.

Trivia

For most of his appearances in the series, his true name was kept unrevealed, only being officially introduced shortly before his death. In the weekly magazine serialization, character text summaries frequently designated him simply as the 'man with the side ponytail' due to his hair style.
