Shiu Kong

Overview

Shiu Kong is a supporting character in the series Jujutsu Kaisen, debuting in the Hidden Inventory / Premature Death arc. A Korean former police officer, he works as an underground broker operating within the shadowy corners of the jujutsu world. Acting as an intermediary between clandestine clients and assassins, he connects the Time Vessel Association with Toji Fushiguro for the hit job on the Star Plasma Vessel, Riko Amanai.

Appearance

Shiu Kong is a man featuring short, spiked black hair accompanied by facial hair that includes sideburns and stubble around his mouth and cheeks. Described as having a dandy overall appearance, he is almost perpetually seen with a cigarette hanging from his mouth.

Personality

Shiu Kong maintains a pragmatic, businesslike demeanor. While his line of work requires managing contacts, he considers formal client entertainment a major source of stress. He prefers a quiet lifestyle, listing tropical fish keeping as a hobby, and enjoys cigarettes and cheese while disliking black beans. He is also careful with his money, showing caution when dining with heavy eaters to avoid paying massive bills.

Abilities

Leveraging his background as a former police officer, Shiu Kong excels at covert operations and working behind the scenes. Although he has the perception required to see cursed spirits, he lacks any inherent cursed technique or specialized combat powers. His primary strength lies in his organizational efficiency as an underground broker, mediating high-stakes assassination contracts and gathering influential patrons to help establish new organizations.

Background

Originally a police officer from South Korea, Shiu Kong transitioned into the underworld as a secretive broker. During the Hidden Inventory arc, he was hired by the Time Vessel Association to outsource the assassination of Riko Amanai, assigning the mission to Toji Fushiguro. A year following Toji's death, he lent his logistics capabilities to Suguru Geto after Geto became a curse user. Shiu Kong recruited wealthy executives and branch leaders to establish Geto's new religious organization, giving him an operational foundation.

Relationships

Shiu Kong shares a long-standing working relationship with Toji Fushiguro, often lightheartedly mocking Toji's terrible gambling luck and even inquiring about Toji's son, Megumi Fushiguro. Following Toji's demise, he entered a professional alliance with Suguru Geto, assisting the newly rogue curse user by acquiring wealthy backers and organizing the foundation for Geto's religious group.

Trivia

Series author Gege Akutami praised Shiu Kong as the coolest-looking character in the past arc. His visual concept was inspired by a slimmer version of actor Ma Dong-seok, while his name references Gong Wenga from the manga Ping Pong. His South Korean nationality was included simply due to Akutami's personal fondness for Korean cinema. Official supplementary sketches depicted him dining with Toji Fushiguro, where he appeared concerned over the meal bill due to Toji's voracious appetite.
