Satoru Gojo

Overview

Satoru Gojo is a major character in the manga series Jujutsu Kaisen, serving as a Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerer and a teacher for the first-year students at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College. As the current head of the prestigious Gojo family and a descendant of Sugawara no Michizane, he is universally acknowledged as the strongest sorcerer of the modern era. His very birth altered the global balance of power, causing curses to grow stronger. Despising the corrupt and conservative jujutsu high-ups, Gojo aims to reshape jujutsu society by educating and fostering a strong new generation of sorcerers.

Appearance

Standing over 190 centimeters tall, Satoru Gojo is a strikingly handsome man with spiky white hair and vivid blue eyes framed by unusually thick eyelashes. Beneath his clothing, he possesses a well-conditioned, broad-shouldered physique. He typically dresses in an all-black high collar outfit paired with leather shoes, obscuring his eyes with a dark blindfold. In earlier events, he utilized white bandages, while during his student days, he wore completely opaque round sunglasses. During the Shinjuku Showdown, he dons a more relaxed martial arts attire equipped with a scarf and haori.

Personality

Satoru Gojo possesses an overly lighthearted, playful, and unpredictable demeanor, frequently irritating opponents and colleagues alike with his childish antics and arrogant banter. He readily acknowledges his own challenging personality. However, behind his frivolous exterior lies a deeply protective mentor who places high value on his students' youth and growth. Driven by a desire to reform jujutsu society without relying on raw force, he actively guides the young sorcerers. He has an intense fondness for sweet foods, a habit developed from consuming sugar to fuel his constant cognitive activity, and he strictly avoids alcohol.

Abilities

Satoru Gojo commands the Gojo family's inherited Limitless Jujutsu alongside the Six Eyes, a rare ocular trait granting atomic-level perception and microscopic control of cursed energy with near-zero energy consumption. Neutral Limitless manipulates spatial convergence, preventing any incoming threat from ever touching him. His offensive arsenal includes Technique Reversal "Heck" and the devastating Hollow Technique "Purple." His Domain Expansion, Infinite Void, overloads targets' minds with endless information. He can continuously apply Reverse Cursed Technique to heal his brain, perform instant 0.2-second domains, reset burnt-out techniques, and employ anti-domain techniques like Simple Domain and Falling Blossom Emotion.

Background

Born into the Gojo clan as a legendary prodigy, Satoru Gojo altered the balance of the modern world from his youth, driving curse users into hiding despite massive bounties on his head. During his time as a student at Tokyo Jujutsu High alongside Suguru Geto and Shoko Ieiri, a near-fatal encounter with Toji Fushiguro triggered his complete awakening to Reverse Cursed Technique. The tragic downfall and eventual execution of Geto—his sole best friend—prompted Gojo to become a teacher to reform the corrupt system. He took Megumi Fushiguro under his care and repeatedly intervened to protect high-risk students like Yuta Okkotsu and Yuji Itadori from execution.

Relationships

Suguru Geto was Gojo's classmate during their school days and remains his one and only best friend, whose fateful tragic path profoundly shaped Gojo's life and ideals. Gojo acts as a guardian and mentor to Megumi Fushiguro, whom he took in during childhood. He shielded both Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okkotsu from execution by the jujutsu authorities, placing immense trust in their potential as future sorcerers. He shares long-standing professional ties with Shoko Ieiri, Kento Nanami, and Kiyotaka Ijichi, while maintaining a bitter, openly hostile stance toward the conservative jujutsu high-ups.

Trivia

Gojo originally began consuming sweets solely to keep his brain operating at peak capacity, which unexpectedly turned him into a full-fledged sweet tooth. He detests alcohol because it dulls his senses and disrupts his cursed technique output. Thanks to his position as a head of a major family and a Special Grade sorcerer earning a cabinet-minister-level salary, he possesses immense wealth. Series creator Gege Akutami designed him to serve as an easily understandable ceiling of strength for the story, later refining his visual design specifically to emphasize his handsome appearance.
