Overview
A recurring antagonist in Jujutsu Kaisen, Uraume is an ancient curse user from a thousand years ago who serves Ryomen Sukuna with absolute devotion. Operating alongside Kenjaku in the modern era, Uraume works behind the scenes to orchestrate Sukuna's complete resurrection.
Appearance
Uraume is characterized by a white bob cut featuring a streak of red hair at the back, paired with deep pink eyes. Possessing an androgynous build, Uraume wears traditional monk robes (kesa) with chest wraps beneath.
Personality
Normally maintaining a composed and polite demeanor, Uraume becomes intensely volatile and hostile whenever anyone disrespects Ryomen Sukuna or threatens his interests. Uraume exhibits unreserved devotion to Sukuna, taking profound joy in receiving his praise while treating enemies with cold, ruthless contempt.
Abilities
Uraume commands the Ice Formation cursed technique (Hikori Juhou), enabling the generation and manipulation of ice across wide areas. Key techniques include Shimonagi, which emits freezing air from the palm to lock targets in ice, Chokubaku, which binds opponents with ground ice and attacks with falling ice pillars, and Iteboshi, which drops massive ice blocks from the sky. Uraume can also perform the Reverse Cursed Technique for swift physical healing and possesses exceptional culinary talent in preparing human flesh.
Background
A thousand years ago in the Heian era, Uraume was an orphan who accidentally froze their parents to death, but was taken in by Ryomen Sukuna to serve as a personal chef and attendant. Entering a pact with Kenjaku, Uraume became a cursed object and eventually reincarnated in modern times inside the body of a woman named Himi Shiori. Assisting Kenjaku while preparing the Bath to fully restore Sukuna, Uraume later fought Kinji Hakari during the Shinjuku battle. Upon sensing Sukuna's defeat and death, Uraume chose to commit suicide using ice magic.
Relationships
Uraume is bound to Ryomen Sukuna by absolute loyalty and a profound personal connection forged over centuries. As an ally to Kenjaku, Uraume coordinates efforts toward Sukuna's return. Uraume harbors strong disdain toward Yorozu due to her obsessive affection toward Sukuna. During their clash in Shinjuku, Uraume recognized Kinji Hakari's remarkable strength and extraordinary speed of regeneration.
Trivia
The name Uraume is thought to derive from a traditional plum blossom crest associated with Sugawara no Michizane and Tenjin worship, or a traditional color combination used in noble garments. Although Uraume was originally male a thousand years ago, modern incarnation occurred within the female body of Himi Shiori through a pact with Kenjaku.
