Overview

Suguru Geto is a major character in Jujutsu Kaisen and its prequel series, Jujutsu Kaisen 0. He is one of the four Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerers who later became known as the worst Curse User after slaughtering over a hundred non-sorcerers and being expelled from Jujutsu High. A former classmate and sole best friend of Satoru Gojo during their high school years, he wields the rare Cursed Spirit Manipulation technique. Driven by an extreme ideology, he seeks to eradicate non-sorcerers to create a world populated exclusively by sorcerers, ultimately orchestrating the massive terrorism event known as the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.

Appearance

Geto is a tall man with small pupils, thin eyebrows, long earlobes, and large black gauge earrings. He features a distinctive single bang hanging over the front of his face and long black hair. During his student days, he wore his hair tied up in a full bun and sported a customized Jujutsu High uniform with an unbuttoned collar and wide baggy pants. As a cult leader, he shifted to a half-bun hairstyle and donned a black tunic beneath a golden kesa robe. Following his death, when his body is hijacked by Kenjaku, a prominent horizontal stitch across his forehead serves as his defining visual distinction.

Personality

Originally a polite and highly principled young man who believed sorcery existed to protect the weak, Geto possessed a strong sense of moral responsibility. However, after witnessing the grotesque nature of ordinary humans and suffering severe personal losses, he experienced a drastic moral collapse. He developed a severe contempt for non-sorcerers, dismissing them as 'monkeys' and showing utter coldness toward them. In stark contrast, he displays immense affection and loyalty toward fellow sorcerers, viewing his comrades as true family. He possesses an aloof, composed demeanor marked by frequent smiles, combined with a charismatic presence and occasional condescending provocation.

Abilities

Geto possesses the rare innate technique Cursed Spirit Manipulation, allowing him to absorb subdued curses as small spheres and control them at will without needing mediums. He can bypass subduing curses if they are two grades lower than him and can command thousands of curses simultaneously across wide ranges. His ultimate technique, Maximum: Uzumaki, condenses numerous absorbed curses into a single beam of hyper-dense cursed energy. His arsenal includes spirits like Incarnate Tamamo-no-Mae, the Rainbow Dragon, the Scissors Woman, and a inventory curse acquired from Toji Fushiguro. In addition to mass-summoning tactics, Geto excels in physical martial arts and proficiently wields the Special Grade cursed tool Playful Cloud.

Background

Born to non-sorcerer parents, Geto was recruited into Jujutsu High, where he formed an unbeatable duo with Satoru Gojo. However, their failure to protect Star Plasma Vessel Riko Amanai against the assassin Toji Fushiguro, along with the applause of cult members celebrating her death, shattered his belief in protecting non-sorcerers. Following the death of his junior Yu Haibara and discovering two young sorcerer girls being abused in a village, Geto snapped. He killed 112 villagers and his own parents, fleeing the jujutsu world. He later usurped the Star Religious Group, collecting curses and funds for a decade before launching the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons to steal Rika Orimoto from Yuta Okkotsu, leading to his defeat and execution by Gojo.

Relationships

Satoru Gojo was Geto's high school classmate and undisputed best friend, a bond that remained deeply significant to both even after their split. Shoko Ieiri was also a close classmate during their student years. After defecting from Jujutsu High, Geto established a close-knit group of curse users—including Mimiko and Nanako Hasaba, Miguel, Larue, Manami Suda, and Toshihisa Negi—whom he cherished as his true family. During the Night Parade, he stood as the primary antagonist against Yuta Okkotsu. Following his death, his physical body was usurped by the ancient sorcerer Kenjaku.

Trivia

His surname Geto originates from the real-world Geto Kogen Ski Area. According to official creator commentary, Geto is canonically one of the most popular male characters among women in the series. He described the taste of consuming cursed spirits as akin to a 'rag used to wipe up vomit,' which served as a major source of stress during his time as a sorcerer. While he personally avoided non-sorcerer establishments after his defection, he occasionally compromised his strict rule when buying treats like crepes for Mimiko and Nanako.
