Overview
Hoshi Kirara is a character from the manga and anime series Jujutsu Kaisen. A third-year student at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College, Kirara is currently suspended alongside classmate Kinji Hakari. Serving as an assistant and guard for Hakari's underground fight club, Kirara presents a stylish, highly feminine gal appearance while biologically being male. During the events of the Culling Game and the Shinjuku Showdown, Kirara acts as crucial combat support and casualty transport, eventually returning to Jujutsu High after the conflict.
Appearance
Kirara has medium-length hair with neat bangs, styled in black with sky-blue streaks, paired with purple eyes. Multiple facial piercings resembling the Southern Cross constellation are located around the mouth, accompanied by ear studs and a collar. Fashion choices feature gal-inspired outfits including crop tops and off-shoulder shirts. In middle school, Kirara sported a short buzz cut and wore a standard male student gakuran uniform.
Personality
Kirara exhibits a friendly, playful demeanor, regularly attaching "-chan" to the names of acquaintances. Deeply affectionate toward Kinji Hakari, Kirara stays close by his side and becomes visibly annoyed whenever he brings up his ex-girlfriends. Possessing firm belief in Satoru Gojo's absolute strength, Kirara expressed genuine disbelief upon learning of Gojo's sealing.
Abilities
Kirara's innate Cursed Technique is "Love Rendezvous" (Seikan Hiko), themed after the Southern Cross constellation. By touching cursed energy, Kirara assigns one of five star markings: Imai, Acrux, Mimosa, Ginan, or Gacrux. Objects or individuals marked with the same star exert an attractive force toward whichever target possesses higher cursed energy output. To approach targets with different stars, one must follow a strict spatial sequence based on distance from Earth (Gacrux to Ginan to Mimosa to Acrux to Imai); skipping steps in the sequence triggers a powerful repulsive force.
Background
After attending middle school as a conventional male student, Kirara enrolled in Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College. Following a suspension stemming from the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons alongside Kinji Hakari, Kirara remained detached from mainstream jujutsu society, helping manage an illegal gambling ring. Unaware of the Shibuya Incident, Kirara eventually encountered Megumi Fushiguro and Yuji Itadori when they sought Hakari's aid. Following a confrontation with Fushiguro, Kirara joined the Culling Game operation in a backup capacity and later assisted Ui Ui in retrieving injured sorcerers during the Shinjuku Showdown.
Relationships
Kirara maintains an extremely close, lover-like bond with classmate Kinji Hakari, managing fight club operations together. Kirara holds immense respect for teacher Satoru Gojo, referring to him fondly. During the encounter at the gambling venue, Kirara fought Megumi Fushiguro and Panda until Fushiguro deduced the mechanics of the technique. During the battle in Shinjuku, Kirara teamed up with Ui Ui to evacuate wounded and fallen allies from the front lines.
Trivia
Series author Gege Akutami reflected in reader Q&A sessions that Kirara's technique was designed to evoke the complex, mind-bending abilities seen in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6, but admitted it became overly complicated in execution. Consequently, Akutami advised aspiring manga creators to keep core abilities conceptually simple while focusing creativity on their application.
