Overview

Kazami Yuuka is a youkai character from the Touhou Project series produced by Team Shanghai Alice. Originally introduced in the PC-98 entry Lotus Land Story, she later returned in Windows-era titles such as Phantasmagoria of Flower View. Known by titles such as the Flower Master of the Four Seasons, she wanders Gensokyo year-round in search of blooming flowers. Though she presents a polite facade, she is an exceptionally powerful and dangerous entity.

Appearance

She features green hair and crimson eyes, lacking any headwear or hair accessories. Her standard outfit consists of a white collared shirt with a yellow ribbon at the neck, paired with a matching red plaid vest and long skirt. Depending on the work, her skirt hem includes lace-like ruffles and a flower-shaped patch. She consistently carries a parasol capable of blocking rain and danmaku. In early PC-98 games and guest appearances, she wore alternate attire such as pants, short-sleeved shirts, or sleepwear. Her hairstyle varies across titles, ranging from short bobs to wavy shoulder-length or long hair.

Personality

She possesses an easygoing and unpredictable nature, generally preferring solitude. Provided her space is undisturbed, she acts with polite and gentlemanly manners, occasionally greeting villagers with a smile. However, she displays a keen interest in challenging powerful opponents and shows no leniency to those who disrupt her peace. She also exhibits a helpful side by occasionally offering warnings or advice to younger youkai and passersby.

Abilities

She holds the ability to manipulate flowers, allowing her to make flowers bloom, restore withered plants, or shift the direction of sunflowers. This power is not primarily meant for combat; her true threat stems from her formidable physical strength. She is known for firing massive beam attacks, and in guest appearances she utilizes techniques named Moekaze, Tougenkyou, Hourai Ouka, and Gensokyo.

Background

She originally appeared in the PC-98 title Lotus Land Story as the master of the Mugenkan mansion, clashing with Hakurei Reimu and Kirisame Marisa. Following playable roles in Mystic Square and the guest title Kioh Gyoku, she returned in Phantasmagoria of Flower View under the full name Kazami Yuuka. She lives a carefree life traveling between seasonal floral sites such as the Garden of the Sun.

Relationships

During her time at Mugenkan, she employed the vampire Kurumi as a retainer. Through early incidents, she crossed paths with Hakurei Reimu, Kirisame Marisa, Mima, and Alice Margatroid. In Phantasmagoria of Flower View, she interacts with younger entities like Medicine Melancholy and Cirno, providing them with guidance. Her capabilities and demeanor are also documented by Hieda no Akyuu.

Trivia

In her initial PC-98 debut, she was named simply Yuuka without the surname Kazami. She describes her constant parasol as the only flower in Gensokyo that never withers. Due to her iconic giant laser attacks, fans often refer to her as the original user of the Master Spark concept. Her character design features subtle variations in hair length and outfit details across different game releases.
