Overview
Yuiman Asama appears as the Stage 4 Boss and Extra Stage Midboss in Touhou Kinjoukyou ~ Fossilized Wonders. Classified as a Shinjin (Ancient God-Human), she carries the title "The Key Weak Point of the Glorious Capital." Formerly a princess of the realm of Yuimankoku located at the boundary of the divine and dead worlds, she was held captive by the Lunarians within the pyramid of Mount Asama Joue to process and purify life information.
Appearance
Yuiman features long white hair, red eyes, and bare feet. She wears a simple sleeveless dress with a torn gradient hem. A tape-like snake wraps around her body, perpetually crumbling at its tail into airborne scales that its own head devours. Depictions of her past as the princess of Yuimankoku show her in a remarkably minimalist dress without the surrounding snake.
Personality
While subjected to memory alteration and brainwashing by the Lunarians, she lived isolated, perceiving incoming information as faint hallucinations. In truth, her underlying nature is affable and approachable. Upon realizing she is interacting with actual living beings, she displays great enthusiasm, cheerfully inviting others to join her in deer hunting. Iwanaga Ariya notes that Yuiman possesses a thoughtful and deeply prudent mind.
Abilities
She possesses the ability capable of feeding things to a snake to make them reborn. This power is manifested by the serpent wrapped around her, which continuously consumes and regenerates cloth, allowing her to process and purify data. In physical action, she is capable of throwing arrows barehanded without using a bow. During combat, she deploys varied danmaku patterns incorporating heart, star, and knife projectiles.
Background
Originally enshrined alongside a deity and living a tranquil lifestyle focused on deer hunting, she attracted the attention of the Lunarians who sought uncorrupted information. Confined inside Mount Asama Joue, her memories were rewritten to turn her into an information-purifying instrument. An overwhelming surge of data eventually caused her processing system to overload, prompting Watatsuki no Toyohime to reboot her and remove the mind control. Following the incident, she gained partial freedom to move outside the pyramid.
Relationships
She shares an ancient friendship dating back to her homeland with Yasaka Kanako, who sought to rescue her from captivity. She also maintains a close bond with Iwanaga Ariya, another goddess enshrined within the same pyramid complex. Regarding her captors, Watatsuki no Toyohime of the Lunar Capital granted her a leave of absence following the resolution of the processing overload.
Trivia
Her background heavily references Princess Yuiman from the legend of Kouga Saburou, which explains the recurring motifs of deer, snakes, and hunting present in her spell cards and music track. Additionally, fans note that her snake theme likely references the Python programming language, while her name Yuiman echoes John von Neumann, a foundational figure in computer science.
