Appearance
Shinki has long silver hair with a thick side ponytail tied on the left using a red band with two small spherical ornaments. Her eyes are silver-white or light blue. She wears a high-collared white shirt beneath a vivid red gothic robe-like dress featuring a deep V-neck and a capelet. During battle, six massive wings manifest on her back, initially appearing white before transforming into a dark purple tone accented with red markings.
Personality
Shinki typically maintains a calm, gentle, and broad-minded demeanor, making her appear remarkably reasonable for a high-ranking entity. However, when her created realm is disturbed or her divine authority is challenged, she quickly loses her temper, displaying a haughty and surprisingly childish side.
Abilities
Shinki possesses the power to construct and sustain the entire world of Makai. Beyond manipulating energy and space, she can freely craft sentient beings complete with distinct souls and personalities. In combat, she wields high-level magic, releasing intense bullet patterns that transform the surrounding environment.
Background
Shinki peacefully governed her created realm until a private Makai travel agency created unauthorized tours to the human world, leading to an influx of Makai creatures on the surface. When human heroines invaded Makai to resolve the situation, Shinki personally confronted them to punish their rampage. Following her defeat, she agreed to seal the gateway between worlds, though her subjects promptly devised their own travel magic to circumvent the boundary.
Relationships
Shinki is served by her top creation and maid, Yumeko, whom she treats with fond affection. She is also the creator of other entities living within Makai, including Alice. In later titles, Hijiri Byakuren uses a spell card inspired by Shinki's signature bullet pattern, reflecting a shared connection to the realm of Makai.
Trivia
Shinki's prominent side ponytail spawned a popular running joke among fans, who humorously nickname the hair tuft itself. Series creator ZUN designed her visual appearance and battle theme around visual kei music influences, and her dress design takes inspiration from Izumi Takemoto's manga work.
