Overview

Louise is a character from the PC-98 era of the Touhou Project, appearing as the Stage 2 boss and Stage 4 midboss in Eastern Strange Creation ~ Mystic Square. As a resident of Makai traveling toward the human realm on a sightseeing trip, she encounters the main protagonists during their journey and ends up engaging them in battle.

Appearance

Louise has medium blonde hair tied into short, low twintails and golden eyes that are usually kept half-closed. She wears a wide-brimmed white hat decorated with a purple bow, alongside a short-sleeved white two-piece dress featuring a purple sailor collar and neckerchief. In her Stage 4 midboss palette swap, her appearance changes to blue hair, red eyes, a blue hat bow, red trim along her skirt, and a ghostly aura surrounding her.

Personality

Despite her mild-mannered impression as a passing tourist, Louise possesses a surprisingly combative and spirited nature. While she comes across as an unfortunate victim when defeated by Hakurei Reimu, she actively picks fights and behaves assertively when confronting Kirisame Marisa, Mima, and Kazami Yuuka. In secondary works, she is frequently portrayed as a polite and gentle older-sister figure.

Abilities

Her official setting lists her combat or magic capabilities as unknown. Within the game, she functions as an opponent firing bullet patterns as the Stage 2 boss and Stage 4 midboss.

Background

A inhabitant of Makai, Louise set off toward the human world for a sightseeing trip, only to cross paths with the protagonists who were resolving an incident. In Mystic Square, she encounters the player characters on Stage 2 and is forced into combat. She makes another appearance on Stage 4 as a recolored midboss.

Relationships

Although defeated by Hakurei Reimu along her journey, she proactively initiated battles against Kirisame Marisa, Mima, and Kazami Yuuka. In fan works, she is often associated with Sara, the gatekeeper of Makai, as well as YugenMagan, Shinki, and Yumeko. Additionally, her blonde hair and wide-brimmed hat design draw visual comparisons to Kana Anaberal.

Trivia

Her character theme music is Spiritual Heaven. In the game's Music Room, the developer playfully questioned her presence as a boss. Because of her tourist background, secondary works often picture her carrying travel luggage, and fans celebrate September 27, World Tourism Day, as Louise Day.
