Yumeko

Overview

Yumeko is a character from the PC-98 entry of the Touhou Project series, Mystic Square. She is a Makai resident created by the realm's creator, Shinki, and serves as her dedicated maid while acting as the Stage 5 boss.

Appearance

She has blonde hair adorned with a white hair accessory, accompanied by yellow eyes. Her outfit consists of a red short-sleeved maid dress with puffy sleeves and frills, featuring a black ribbon tied in a bow at the chest and a white apron.

Personality

Yumeko is serious, highly confident, and deeply loyal to Shinki. She demonstrates fierce hostility toward anyone who slights her master. However, despite her stern composure in battle, she exhibits a softer side by weeping alongside Shinki after being defeated.

Abilities

She fights using a uniquely shaped sword, described variously as twisted or serrated. Upon entering combat, the background distorts into a ripple effect. She fires extremely fast projectiles, combines sword attacks with lasers in later phases, and becomes entirely transparent and invulnerable while moving.

Background

Constructed by Shinki as one of the most powerful beings in Makai, Yumeko acts as her master's personal maid and protector. During the events of Mystic Square, she confronted the protagonists invading Makai to ensure Shinki's safety.

Relationships

Yumeko earns deep trust from her creator, Shinki, to whom she vows absolute devotion. She shares a connection with Alice as a fellow resident created within Makai. During the incident, she aggressively engaged intruders such as Marisa Kirisame in combat.

Trivia

Yumeko is notable for being the first maid character in the Touhou Project to feature spoken dialogue. Due to her role as a Stage 5 maid boss, she is often contrasted with Izayoi Sakuya, highlighting their opposing themes of swords versus knives.
