Appearance
Kotohime features crimson long hair bound by a yellow ribbon, long sideburns, and red eyes, with her side-parted bangs sometimes obscuring one eye. She wears a purple floral-patterned kimono over a white inner robe tied with a red sash. In her alternate palette, the red and purple colors swap between her hair, eyes, and kimono. During her Boss Attack, she rides atop a small cloud, while her ending reveals a secondary police uniform comprising a white collared shirt, yellow necktie, light blue vest, and matching skirt.
Personality
Exceedingly eccentric and detached, Kotohime harbors a unique worldview that rarely aligns with others. She rarely interacts with those around her, earning a reputation for being an elusive oddball. She is a dedicated collector drawn exclusively to obscure items that hold no value to ordinary people. Her demeanor is unbothered, calm, and slightly arrogant, often replying to threats or intimidation with casual nonchalance.
Abilities
While her precise abilities remain officially undefined, they are characterized as falling outside the scope of scientific limits. In combat, she releases white missile-shaped projectiles and employs screen-filling bombs that sweep along the bottom or encircle opponent targets.
Background
Driven by whim, Kotohime enters the Dream Ruins, competing against other contenders in spell battle tournaments. After defeating the scientists inside, she rejects conventional wishes and instead demands the shrine maiden, Reimu Hakurei. Upon receiving her, Kotohime casually locks Reimu inside a police detention cell simply because space was available.
Relationships
During the events in the Dream Ruins, Kotohime displays an aloof, mocking attitude toward Yumemi Okazaki and Chiyuri Kitashirakawa, easily defeating them in combat despite their attempts to threaten her. She takes an unusual interest in Reimu Hakurei, ultimately using her post-battle reward to claim the shrine maiden for her jail.
Trivia
She is recognized as the first character carrying a princess title in the Touhou Project franchise. Due to her secret profession revealed in the storyline, fans frequently nickname her the 'Touhou Police.'
