Aalto

Overview

Aalto is an Aero-attribute Resonator in Wuthering Waves who uses pistols in battle. Originally hailing from the New Federation, he acts as an elusive information broker while serving as a consultant for the secret organization known as the Black Shores. Partnered with Encore as her informal guardian, he presents a cheerful, mist-like persona to the public while remaining a deeply dependable strategist who assists the Rover on various dangerous missions.

Appearance

Aalto is a tall young man with silver and white hair tied into a half-ponytail, messy long bangs, and yellow eyes. His Tacet Mark is located on the left side of his neck below the left ear. He wears sunglasses, black fingerless gloves, pants, knee pads, boots, a belt, and mechanical devices on both shoulders designed to enhance and store mist.

Personality

On the surface, Aalto is a cheerful, smooth-talking trickster who loves doing magic to bring smiles to others. Beneath his playfulness lies a calculating and deeply empathetic individual who values fair trade above all else, treating all clients equally regardless of status. Although he acts money-oriented, he exhibits a tender side, accepting unconventional payments like a crookedly drawn marble from a child in need. He patiently tolerates being called an older man by his rambunctious partner, Encore.

Abilities

Aalto utilizes his Forte, Mist Weaver, to manipulate mist and physically transform his body and touched objects into vapor, allowing him to evade enemy strikes and move stealthily. In combat, he deploys mist avatars to taunt foes and fires his dual pistols through generated mist screens or portals, significantly boosting his projectile damage and movement speed. While fully dispersed in his mist form, he cannot directly perform attacks.

Background

Aalto spent his youth navigating a difficult home life with a gambling father. He later forged a career as a master broker, using his cunning tactics to help law enforcement apprehend criminal rings. Upon receiving an invitation from the Black Shores, he joined the secret organization to assist their mission of saving the world from catastrophic events. He continuously gathers critical intel during major incidents, such as the investigation of ancient ruins and defense battles in Jinzhou.

Relationships

Aalto forms a self-proclaimed ultimate duo with Encore, serving as her affectionate guardian during operations. He holds the deep trust of the Shorekeeper, who frequently assigns him to guide the Rover, a traveler whom Aalto regards with special reliance. Among other Resonators, he respects Jiyan for his sharp insight and shares a history of nearly being caught by Chixia during his covert dealings.

Trivia

His name, Aalto, originates from the Finnish word meaning wave. He carries a silent bone whistle from his childhood that functions as a voice recorder, and his favorite leisure activity is competing for high scores against Encore on an old-fashioned handheld gaming device.
