Buling

Overview

Buling is a wandering Taoist priestess and guest consultant for the Black Shores in Wuthering Waves. Originating from Huanglong, she travels across regions investigating unusual occurrences and helping people in need, financing her journeys through her expertise in feng shui, divination, and the sale of talismans. In battle, she utilizes a Rectifier weapon and commands Electro frequency abilities. She shares a martial lineage with Jianxin, who is her senior.

Appearance

Buling has long blue hair styled with a single braid, a half-ponytail, and an M-shaped fringe between her golden eyes. Her Tacet Mark is positioned on her neck, accompanied by a choker and a pair of headphones around her ears. Her outfit consists of a sleeveless white shirt combined with black detached sleeves that expose her shoulders, alongside short boots, bells, and decorative talismans.

Personality

Buling is an inquisitive and lively individual who enjoys collecting and sharing unusual rumors and urban legends. She speaks with great confidence about the efficacy of her divination and exorcism services. Enterprising and resourceful, she actively uses her skills to sustain her travels while offering guidance to those seeking direction.

Abilities

Through her Resonance ability, Buling possesses exceptional auditory sensitivity to reverberation frequencies. By removing her headphones and forming hand seals, she calls down lightning to strike enemies. In combat, she generates and consumes specific trigrams—Gen and Zhen—to perform varied heavy attacks that restore ally health, reduce enemy resonance, or amplify Electro damage. She can also project lightning clones to swap positions on the field and establish domain fields that empower team members.

Background

Having trained at a Taoist temple since childhood to harness electrical forces, Buling developed techniques to channel environmental frequencies using spiritual tools. During events in Rinascita, she encountered the Rover in the Seven Hills and provided a copper mirror that helped unmask the area's reality. She subsequently aided the Black Shores' operations by supplying remote data and intelligence during the campaign against the false god king alongside Augusta.

Relationships

Buling trained under the same martial arts tradition as Jianxin, whom she regards as her senior martial sister. Within the Black Shores organization, she acts as a guest consultant under the leadership of the Shorekeeper and assists the Rover, whose role as the guide of the Black Shores is known to her.

Trivia

In the Chinese voiceover, Buling occasionally incorporates Wu dialect (Shanghainese) phrases into her dialogue. She also marks the first new 4-star playable character introduced after an extended interval spanning several update cycles.
