Chixia

Overview

A playable character in Wuthering Waves. Chixia is an energetic junior patroller serving in the Patrol Station of the Jinzhou Public Security Bureau in Huanglong. As a Fusion-attribute Resonator, she fights using dual pistols. Driven by endless passion and enthusiasm, she constantly patrols the streets of Jinzhou, eager to assist anyone in need.

Appearance

Chixia features red hair styled into a half-ponytail with braids and a hair bow, with swept-back bangs revealing her high forehead, along with red eyes. Her outfit consists of a cropped top exposing her midriff and one shoulder, paired with a black skirt over shorts, a shawl, armguards, fingerless gloves, and asymmetrical long-and-short socks. Her Tacet Mark is located on the left side of her abdomen.

Personality

Chixia is exceptionally cheerful, outgoing, and passionate. Inspired by theatrical hero stories, she views herself as the 'Hero of the Wings' and actively performs good deeds so people know who to rely on. She insists on being called by her hero name, Chixia, rather than her real name, Ma Xiaofang. Approachable and warm, she loves extra-spicy food, particularly spicy noodles, and maintains friendly relationships with the townsfolk.

Abilities

As a Fusion-attribute mutant Resonator, Chixia channels thermal energy into ammunition, delivering rapid-fire barrages with her dual pistols. Her battle mechanics center on gathering and expending specialized Thermal Pressure Bullets via her Normal Attack 'Pow Pow' and Resonance Skill 'Whiz-Whiz', triggering suppressing fire states and follow-up strikes like 'Boom Boom'. Her Resonance Liberation fires a continuous volley at surrounding targets, supplemented by shockwaves from her Intro and Outro skills.

Background

During her childhood, Chixia traveled constantly with her family, experiencing the dangers of the wilderness firsthand. After being saved from bandits by a patroller whose heroic presence inspired her, she resolved to join the patrollers herself. After passing her entry examinations, she chose to serve as a local community patroller to protect the peace of daily life. At the start of the story, she finds the unconscious Rover alongside Yangyang and Baizhi, helping guide the traveler into Jinzhou City.

Relationships

Chixia shares a close bond with Yangyang and Baizhi, with whom she initially rescues the Rover. She quickly grows fond of the Rover, often inviting them to local festivals and activities. Panhua, an eatery owner in Jinzhou, is her relative who frequently refers to her by her birth name. She also forms warm ties with Jinzhou's children, such as young Xiao Jiu, bonding over their mutual love for hero plays.

Trivia

Although her given birth name is Ma Xiaofang, she firmly prefers using her hero alias, Chixia. Fans of the developer Kuro Games note that one of her energetic battle voice lines recalls a memorable phrase spoken by Nanami in Punishing: Gray Raven. In early 2023 pre-release playtest builds, her initial meeting with the Rover featured her pointing her guns at the protagonist out of initial caution.
