Brant is the captain of the Troupe of Fools and the commander of the large Echo ship Lario in Wuthering Waves, originating from the region of Rinascita. Utilizing Fusion attribute abilities alongside a sword, he presents himself as a free-spirited and charismatic theater leader. Formerly banished by the Order of the Deep as a child, he gathered fellow exiles to form a theatrical crew, serving as a dependable guiding light and family figure for his companions.
Appearance
Brant is a muscular man with messy blue hair featuring highlight streaks and pink eyes. He wears a pirate hat accented with a feather hairpiece, along with earrings. His outfit consists of a long-sleeved shirt, white pants secured with a belt, and mid-calf boots. His Tacet Mark is located on the left side of his chest.
Personality
Brant has a cheerful, romantic, and carefree personality, embracing life with flamboyant flair. Beneath his dramatic persona lies a deeply caring leader who considers his crew members to be his true family. He views danger and adversity not as setbacks, but as opportunities for his grand highlight moments. He treats others with genuine warmth, though he occasionally cuts loose at celebrations and gets thoroughly drunk.
Abilities
Through his Resonance Ability, Blazing Guidance, Brant controls purple flames known as St. Elmo's Fire. In combat, he deploys a grappling hook for aerial maneuvers and summons a massive ship anchor to crush opponents. His abilities allow him to grant shields to his team, restore the health of nearby allies, and boost his own attack power based on his Energy Regen attribute while dealing Fusion damage.
Background
As a child, Brant questioned the dogma of the Order of the Deep regarding the Sentinel, resulting in his exile to the Penitents' Slum as a heretic. There, he discovered the vessel Lario and founded the Troupe of Fools with fellow outcasts. Though born with the name Tern—meaning tern, given by his parents—he adopted the name Brant and now uses his theatrical platform to protect innocent people and expose corrupted conspiracies in Rinascita.
Relationships
Brant considers his second-in-command Rococo and the rest of the Troupe of Fools to be his cherished family. He establishes a close bond with the Rover, whom he rescued at sea, and cooperates with Phoebe during investigations into church conspiracies. He also earns the trust of Captain Ahab, inheriting the command of the ship Pequod to carry out a tragic final mission in the ocean depths.
Trivia
His name Brant derives from Old English terms associated with firebrands and high elevation, while his true birth name Tern refers to the seabird. In-game, his idle animation of eating an orange actually restores a minor amount of his hit points.
