Galbrena

Overview

Galbrena, whose real name is Angel, is a playable Fusion-attribute character in Wuthering Waves who dual-wields pistols in battle. Known as the Devil of Eternal Flame, she travels across Solaris as a relentless Devil Hunter, purging or subduing Tacet Discords. Bound to the tragedy of the Dark Tide in her homeland, she eventually joins the Black Shores as an official consultant after crossing paths with the Rover.

Appearance

Galbrena is a woman featuring long silver hair with dark streaks and pinkish-purple eyes. Her Tacet Mark is located on her upper back, and her right hand is corrupted black. She wears a black jacket, shorts, black thigh-high socks, high heels, gloves, and earrings while dual-wielding pistols. Upon Overclocking, her hair and outfit shift to pure white, and a single wing sprouts from her right shoulder.

Personality

On the battlefield, Galbrena operates with cold composure and unwavering resolve, taking on prejudice without complaint and demonstrating a profound capacity for self-sacrifice. Beneath her intimidating presence lies a quiet, caring nature; she shares ice cream with others after tough fights and crafts protective charms from her feathers to guard children against nightmares. In everyday life, she enjoys listening to music and displays a practical, grounded demeanor.

Abilities

Utilizing her Resonance Ability Purgatory, Galbrena channels hellfire to purify or annihilate Tacet Discords. Her body retains the frequencies of entities like Chimera, Harpy, Balor, and Galbrena, granting her flight and tracking abilities. She fires Dark Tide or blood-formed bullets from her dual pistols. During Overclocking, she enters a demonic state that boosts her attack power and interruption resistance while delivering heavy attack and Echo skill combinations. She must consume cold items to manage her severe internal heat.

Background

Raised in Fabianum, Galbrena grew up alongside her childhood friend Augusta and learned metal tempering from a local blacksmith. When the Dark Tide struck sixteen years ago, she entered into a harsh survival contract with the Tacet Discord Chimera. She subsequently defeated and absorbed the immortal Tacet Discord Galbrena, taking its name as a Devil Hunter. After defeating the Threnodian Leviathan, she reunited with Augusta and accepted the Rover's invitation to become a Black Shores consultant.

Relationships

Augusta is Galbrena's childhood friend with whom she reunited after sixteen years following Augusta's appointment as governor. Chimera remains a dangerous entity bound to her body in a tense symbiotic relationship. She holds strong mutual trust with the Rover, joining the Black Shores where she maintains a practical working partnership with Aalto. She has also co-operated on joint hunting operations with Calcharo.

Trivia

The name Galbrena stems from the angel Gabriel and the Gaelic word for flame. Her dual pistols Lux and Umbra, alongside her mid-air shooting techniques and triumphant exclamations, heavily reference Dante from the Devil May Cry series. Absorbing Harpy left her with avian habits such as roosting in tall trees at night. Her constant ice cream eating during idle animations and upgrade screens is widely beloved by fans.
