Overview
Mya is a prominent non-playable character featured in the second chapter of the open-world action role-playing game Wuthering Waves. Originating as an immigrant from Laguna, she served as a gladiator in Seven Hills before mysteriously disappearing two decades prior following a championship tournament. In truth, she was an artificial Resonator created by the Threnodian Leviathan. Driven to sacrifice her own life to resist the Threnodian's mental corruption, she plays a crucial narrative role in the central conflict of the Seven Hills region.
Appearance
Mya is a Resonator who features a distinct Tacet Mark situated on the right side of her forehead. Visually, she possesses short blue hair with strands falling between her eyes, paired with yellow eyes. Her gear includes body armor, a helmet, and a blue cape draped over her shoulders.
Personality
Mya possessed a profound sense of pride as a gladiator and an unwavering commitment to combat, dedicating almost all her time outside basic sustenance and rest to rigorous practice. However, her continuous resistance against the Threnodian's mental erosion led to severe psychological instability, causing her to scream unexpectedly during matches, experience hallucinations, and break down in tears in the waiting area. Despite her mental anguish, she demonstrated extraordinary willpower and a selfless heart by choosing self-sacrifice over allowing herself to become an instrument of destruction.
Abilities
As a Resonator created by the Threnodian Leviathan, Mya was designed to function as an Agent of the Black Tide capable of corrupting the signal tower network at the core of Seven Hills. In life, she fought as a gladiator equipped with a sword. Following her death, the residual power of the Threnodian within her body allowed her remains to be transformed into the monster known as the Daughter of the Sea.
Background
Originally from Laguna, Mya was a follower of the Hidden Sea Cult before relocating to Seven Hills to work as a gladiator. Twenty years before the main story, she vanished during a major championship. While dark rumors regarding manager disputes and illegal gambling circulated, her disappearance was actually the result of her resisting Leviathan's plot to use her victory to corrupt the city's signal towers and trigger the Black Tide. To prevent this catastrophe, Mya stabbed herself and plunged into the sea. Her body was later recovered by Christophoro of the Fractsidus and transformed into the monster known as the Daughter of the Sea, until the Rover, Cartesia, and Lupa defeated the creature and granted her soul final repose.
Relationships
Mya was created by the Threnodian Leviathan as a puppet, a fate she resisted by ending her own life. In her youth in Laguna, she shared a spiritual connection with Phoebe as a fellow follower of the Hidden Sea Cult. During her gladiator career, her manager John witnessed her severe mental struggles. Decades after her death, Overseer Christophoro of the Fractsidus desecrated her remains for his ambitions, but she was ultimately liberated from her torment through the combined efforts of the Rover, Cartesia, and the gladiator Lupa.
Trivia
Mya had a notable fondness for Viburnum tinus flowers. Additionally, despite her intense diligence—allocating virtually all her time outside essential sleep and eating to combat training—such earnest dedication was not widely appreciated or valued within the gladiator culture of Seven Hills during her era.
