Taoqi is a playable Havoc-attribute character in the action role-playing game Wuthering Waves, where she serves as the Director of Border Defense at the Jinzhou Ministry of Development in Huanglong. Wielding a heavy Broadblade in combat, she presents a sleepy and relaxed demeanor on the surface, frequently taking naps and expressing a desire for slow-paced living. Beneath her sluggish exterior, however, she possesses exceptional administrative competence and strategic foresight, acting as a steadfast shield for the city and ensuring a secure future for its people through efficient work and solid defense.

Appearance

Taoqi features long pink hair with an ahoge, a side-swept fringe covering one eye, hair ornaments, and pink or purple eyes. Her Tacet Mark is located on her upper back between her shoulder blades. Her outfit consists of a backless dress paired with detached sleeves, armguards, black gloves, a belt, hanging ornaments, thigh rings, black pantyhose, high-heeled boots, and a resting eye mask.

Personality

Taoqi exhibits a sluggish, relaxed demeanor, often yawning and seeking opportunities to nap or finish work right on schedule. Despite her seemingly lazy attitude, she is extremely reliable and efficient, using keen observation to resolve complex issues effortlessly. She acts as a comforting elder-sister figure to her junior colleagues, patiently listening to their worries in break rooms while steadily working toward a safe future.

Abilities

Taoqi delivers Havoc-attribute attacks using her Broadblade. Her Resonance Ability, Peach Blossom Shielding, generates Rock-Solid Shields that reduce incoming damage for herself and her team, convert absorbed energy into healing, and grant shields. She can adopt defensive postures to execute counterattacks such as Strike After Defense and Offense-Defense Shift, while applying skill damage buffs to teammates via her Outro Skill and causing Harmonics Breakdown when the enemy's vibration gauge is filled.

Background

Operating as the head of border defense at Jinzhou's Ministry of Development, Taoqi oversees structural defense projects and barrier maintenance. Though she was self-conscious about her slow pace during childhood, she grew up supported by close friends who joined different paths across the realm. At the Ministry, she solved complex cases such as material fraud using careful deduction, and during major Tacet Discord invasions, she successfully managed defense barrier repairs and engineered adaptive wall tactics for the front line.

Relationships

She serves under Jinshi, the magistrate of Jinzhou. At the Ministry of Development, she works closely with her junior assistant Yu and provides guidance to many younger colleagues who view her as a trusted mentor. Her childhood friends include a Night Guard warrior, a rural teacher, and a travel writer, who historically protected her and remain close companions in adulthood.

The Japanese reading of her name, "Tao-ki," incorporates the Chinese pronunciation of the character "Tao" rather than a native Japanese reading.
