Overview
Shorekeeper is a character in Wuthering Waves who serves as the supreme leader of the Black Shores. Originally created by the Rover as the Second Instance and core interface of the Tethys System, she wields a Rectifier with Spectro powers. Through centuries of observing humanity and calculating disaster data, she developed a deep emotional consciousness and an unwavering dedication to protecting her bond with the Rover. Ethereal and serene, she combines a divine presence with a supportive combat role.
Appearance
Shorekeeper features long pale blue hair with strands falling between her eyes and vivid purple eyes. She wears a white and light blue veil reminiscent of a starry sky on her head. Her attire consists of a sleeveless, backless dress with a deep V-neckline, predominantly colored in white and blue. A butterfly-shaped bustle bow centered with a black flower accentuates her waist, with additional butterfly motifs integrated throughout. Lacking a standard Tacet Mark, her chest displays a light blue crystal-like scar formed by reverberation energy, alongside wave-patterned marks on her limbs. She completes her ensemble with arm rings, blue nails, and high-heeled sandals.
Personality
Shorekeeper maintains a serene and detached demeanor, yet she harbors an earnest curiosity about human emotions and unfamiliar experiences. To better understand humanity, she willingly tries unfamiliar foods, watches films with deep concentration, and finds comfort in playing the piano to express feelings clearly. As the leader of the Black Shores, she values the freedom and individual talents of her subordinates rather than imposing strict control. She holds a profound, devoted bond with the Rover, cherishing every moment shared together along with personal mementos.
Abilities
Utilizing a Rectifier, Shorekeeper manipulates reverberation energy directly to deal Spectro damage. Her Resonance Liberation expands a domain that continuously heals allies while boosting their critical rate and critical damage in proportion to her Resonance Efficiency. Through her attacks and skills, she summons collapsed cores and tracking butterflies that target enemies automatically. By consuming stamina during heavy attacks, she enters an accelerated state capable of traversing water and automatically harvesting nearby plant materials. Additionally, she offers team-wide damage amplification, emergency recovery from knockbacks, fatal damage prevention, and long-range teleportation of allies.
Background
Shorekeeper was created as the Second Instance and core interface of the Tethys System, designed to help calculate and mitigate the disasters known as the Lament. Initially an emotionless tool executing pre-set directives, her interactions with humanity alongside the Rover gradually awakened her consciousness and feelings. When the Rover relinquished memories and departed on a journey, she remained in the Black Shores for ages to maintain the system and await their return. Upon reuniting with the Rover, she sacrificed herself to absorb system corruption into the Necro Star, only to be rescued through the Rover's determination. She ultimately reaffirmed her identity as the Shorekeeper who welcomes the wandering traveler home.
Relationships
The Rover is her creator and the paramount person in her life who awakened her emotions, inspiring her unyielding devotion and love. Within the Black Shores, she respects the unique natures of her companions; she allows Tsubaki complete freedom to follow her desires, acknowledges Aalto's inner resolve despite his casual demeanor, and admires Encore's imaginative resilience against negative emotions. She also cared deeply for Delaunay, a former member, standing by her during her final moments and preserving her frequency as a star in the sky.
Trivia
Her tendency to briefly space out during idle moments before innocently inquiring if something happened has earned her a reputation among fans for having an endearing, robotic charm. Her character song, "Never Let It Go," captures her long solitude, hope, and steadfast resolve to protect her connection with the Rover. Her favorite food is a seafood stew originally cooked by the Rover, which she repeatedly tries to recreate to evoke its warmth. Conversely, she intentionally avoids fermented foods like pickled plums as they remind her of a lack of freshness.
