Appearance
Akamaru naturally features white fur. In the first part of the series, he is small enough to rest on Kiba's head or inside his shirt. By the second part, he grows significantly larger, allowing Kiba to ride on his back for transport. In his later years, his physical appearance shows visible signs of advanced age.
Personality
Akamaru is intensely loyal to Inuzuka Kiba and works in close harmony with him. He possesses remarkable instincts, such as quickly identifying Gaara's dangerous aura during the Chunin Exams before Kiba could. Over the course of the story, he grew from a tiny pup into a reliable giant canine. He survives into peaceful times as an elderly dog and has an offspring named Akemaru.

Akamaru shares an inseparable bond with his master and partner, Inuzuka Kiba. In the BORUTO era, he is revealed to have a child named Akemaru.
Trivia
His name derives from his fur turning red when he eats a soldier pill. In the Gekitou Ninja Taisen! video game series, his unique hitboxes and combat traits frequently led to him being banned in competitive tournament play.
