Fuu

Overview

Fuu is a character from NARUTO Shippuden. She is a kunoichi hailing from Takigakure, the Village Hidden in the Waterfall, and serves as the Jinchuuriki host for the Seven-Tails, Choumei, a giant beetle-like Tailed Beast. As the only Jinchuuriki originating outside the Five Great Shinobi Countries, she was raised under strict protection within her village. Defined by her exuberant and carefree nature, she longs to explore the outside world and make numerous friends among ninjas of all lands.

Appearance

Fuu is a young woman with light yellow-green hair, tanned skin, and brightly colored eyes. Her attire features a white cropped sleeveless top that exposes her well-defined abdominal muscles, paired with exceptionally low-rise white short pants. She wears a hair accessory on her head and carries a massive, deep crimson scroll strapped to her back. When drawing upon her Tailed Beast powers, three pairs of insect-like wings sprout from her back.

Personality

Fuu possesses an exceptionally cheerful, pure-hearted, and carefree temperament. Highly impulsive and energetic, she frequently acts without pondering the consequences and struggles to read social cues, yet her intentions remain thoroughly harmless. Although spared from the severe ostracization often suffered by other Jinchuuriki, her restricted upbringing fueled a profound desire for social connection, inspiring her goal to make a hundred friends. She speaks casually regardless of status, even addressing figures of authority with informal familiarity.

Abilities

Fuu harbors the power of the Seven-Tails, Choumei. By manifesting its tails into wings, she gains the ability to fly freely through the air. She can also employ a scale-powder technique that scatters reflective dust to completely blind her opponents' vision. In addition to her Tailed Beast traits, she possesses remarkable physical capabilities, demonstrated by her ability to defeat a giant scorpion using only a single kunai.

Background

Fuu was raised inside Takigakure under the care of village leader Shibuki, kept hidden from external threats. Yearning to see the world, she persuaded Shibuki to allow her to participate in the Chunin Exams, escorted by two disguise-bearing jounin guards. During the exams, she actively assisted candidates from other villages and forged bonds with them. Soon after, however, she was ambushed by the Akatsuki duo Kakuzu and Hidan, who extracted the Seven-Tails and caused her death. In the Fourth Shinobi World War, she was reanimated via Kabuto Yakushi's Edo Tensei, fitted with a Sharingan and a Rinnegan, and forced to serve as one of Tobi's Six Paths of Pain until the jutsu was released.

Relationships

Fuu shares a close bond with Takigakure's leader, Shibuki, whose philosophy on human connections deeply inspired her desire to seek friends. Her upper-ninja guards, Kegon and Yoorou, constantly watch over her with protective care despite her troublesome antics. Through the Chunin Exams, she established friendships with Gaara and Neji Hyuga, while hoping to meet Uzumaki Naruto due to their shared circumstances as Jinchuuriki. Even when confronted by her eventual killer, Kakuzu, she casually attempted to offer him friendship before being defeated.

Trivia

Among the nine Jinchuuriki introduced in the series, Fuu is the sole host who originates from a village outside the Five Great Shinobi Countries. Before the official design of the Seven-Tails was revealed, fans speculated that the beast might be based on a badger. In anime-original storylines, she played a pivotal role among the main cast during the Chunin Exams narrative arc and was prominently featured in key promotional visuals.
