Uchiha Sasuke

Overview

Uchiha Sasuke is the deuteragonist of the NARUTO series and a prominent character in BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS. As one of the sole survivors of the Uchiha clan from Konohagakure, he was placed in Team 7 under Hatake Kakashi alongside Uzumaki Naruto and Haruno Sakura. Haunted by the tragic night his elder brother, Uchiha Itachi, slaughtered their entire clan, Sasuke dedicated his youth to acquiring the power needed to exact revenge. Throughout his journey, he remains both the ultimate rival and the closest friend to Uzumaki Naruto.

Appearance

Sasuke possesses dark blue-black hair and black eyes. His eyes transform into red when activating the Sharingan and turn purple with the awakening of the Rinnegan, with long bangs occasionally covering part of his face. He shifts through multiple outfits across his lifetime, starting with a high-collared blue short-sleeved top paired with white shorts, later transitioning to an open-chested white shirt secured by a thick purple rope belt while carrying a Japanese blade known as the Kusanagi sword. His garments feature the Uchiha crest on the back. Later in life, he wears a cloak and has a physical limb impairment.

Personality

Sasuke is inherently composed, stoic, and highly analytical, demonstrating exceptional intellect and tactical leadership. Although he maintains an aloof, guarded facade, he possesses a deeply passionate nature and cares intensely for those he values. He frequently struggles to express affection openly, often speaking bluntly or harshly to his rival Uzumaki Naruto. Traumatized by loss, he demonstrated a willingness to embrace dark methods and sever personal ties for the sake of power, yet he retains a fiercely independent mindset, following his own path rather than succumbing to the control of others.

Abilities

Sasuke excels in Fire Release and Lightning Release jutsu, employing techniques such as the Great Fireball Technique, Dragon Fire Technique, Chidori, and the lightning secret technique Kirin. Through the Uchiha clan's bloodline limit, the Sharingan, he gains enhanced visual perception and technique replication. Awakening the Mangekyou Sharingan unlocks the black flames of Amaterasu and the colossal spectral warrior Susanoo, alongside the Rinnegan. He is highly proficient in swordsmanship with the Kusanagi sword, wire techniques, summoning jutsu, and high-speed physical attacks like the Lion Combo, having also previously used Orochimaru's Cursed Seal to enhance his physical power.

Background

Sasuke was born in Konohagakure as the second son of Uchiha Fugaku and Uchiha Mikoto. Raising himself in the shadow of his brilliant older brother Itachi, his world collapsed at age seven when Itachi massacred their entire clan, leaving Sasuke as a sole survivor devoted to vengeance. Graduating at the top of his class at the Academy, he was assigned to Team 7. Impatience over his own progress and a bitter reunion with Itachi drove him to abandon Konohagakure to seek power under Orochimaru. After defeating Itachi in battle, Sasuke learned the truth behind his brother's actions from Tobi, initially seeking destruction upon Konohagakure before eventually resolving to protect the village and embarking on a journey of redemption following the Fourth Shinobi World War.

Relationships

His relationship with Uzumaki Naruto forms the emotional centerpiece of his life, bound as eternal rivals, closest friends, and reincarnations of Indra. His older brother, Uchiha Itachi, was the target of his intense hatred until the tragic truth transformed him back into a revered family member. Haruno Sakura maintained unwavering affection for him, eventually becoming his wife and the mother of their daughter, Uchiha Sarada. Hatake Kakashi served as his initial sensei who taught him Chidori, while Orochimaru acted as his instructor during his time as a rogue ninja.

Trivia

Sasuke was named after Sarutobi Sasuke, the father of the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen. His favorite foods are rice balls filled with dried bonito and fresh tomatoes, while he dislikes natto and sweet items. He is the spiritual reincarnation of Indra, the elder son of the Sage of Six Paths.
