Chouji is visually distinguished by his spiky brown hair resembling a hedgehog, narrow eyes, and signature swirl patterns on his cheeks. He has a notably heavy, plump body structure, and wore bandages across his body during his youth. As an adult, his hair extends into a straight, semi-long style accompanied by a full beard. Additionally, when he exhausts his body calories through powerful techniques like the Butterfly Bullet Bombing, he temporarily transforms into a slender physique.
Personality
Chouji is an easygoing, kind-hearted individual who shows genuine empathy toward others and generally avoids unnecessary conflict. He is an immense food lover who favors grilled meat and potato chips, adhering strictly to a personal rule never to hand over the final bite of a meal. Although he insists on describing himself as pleasantly plump, he is fiercely defensive about his weight; being called fat or seeing his friends insulted will instantly set off his intense temper.

Possessing Fire and Yang chakra natures, Chouji utilizes the Akimichi clan's secret techniques that convert stored calories directly into chakra. His skill set includes the Multi-Size Technique, Partial Multi-Size Technique, and Super Multi-Size Technique to enlarge his body or limbs. He uses physical attacks such as the Human Boulder—spinning his enlarged body into enemies—and the Spiky Human Boulder using hardened hair. His ultimate technique, Butterfly Bullet Bombing, converts his body mass into chakra to form butterfly wings on his back and strike with massive physical force.
Background
In his childhood, Chouji felt insecure due to being mocked for his weight, but gaining Nara Shikamaru as a loyal friend helped him gain confidence. After graduating the Academy and joining Team 10, he participated in the Sasuke Retrieval mission, defeating Jirobo of the Sound Four by consuming his clan's secret red pill at the risk of his own life. During the Fourth Great Ninja War, he overcame his hesitation to confront the reanimated Sarutobi Asuma, unlocking his chakra wings naturally without relying on secret pills. After the war, he married Karui and became the father of Chocho Akimichi.
Relationships
Nara Shikamaru is Chouji's closest childhood friend, and together with Yamanaka Ino, they form the tight-knit Ino-Shika-Cho trio. He holds immense respect for his mentor Sarutobi Asuma. Chouji also befriended Uzumaki Naruto during their Academy days without displaying the prejudice shown by others. Following the war, he built a family with his wife Karui and their daughter Chocho Akimichi. He also shares a strong bond with his father, Chouza Akimichi, inheriting the techniques of their clan.
