Overview

Android 18 is a character from the Dragon Ball series, created by Dr. Gero through bio-cybernetic modification of a human woman. Originally engineered to assassinate Son Goku alongside her twin brother Android 17, she possesses immense power granted by a cell-fused organic body. Following the conflict with Cell, she integrates into human society and marries Kuririn, eventually giving birth to their daughter Marron. Behind her sharp, composed exterior lies a dedicated wife and mother who deeply cares for her family. Despite settling into a peaceful domestic life, she remains one of the formidable fighters on Earth, periodically returning to the battlefield when crisis strikes.

Appearance

Android 18 features a cool, striking facial appearance characterized by straight blonde hair and sharp, slanted blue eyes. Due to her cybernetic enhancements slowing down cellular aging, she permanently retains a youthful look. She has a relatively small and slender physical build. During her initial appearance, she wears a black long-sleeved shirt with striped sleeves under a denim vest and denim skirt, complemented by black leggings, brown boots, and gold earrings. In later events, she is also seen wearing a simple pink tracksuit.

Personality

Android 18 has a cool, sharp-tongued, and confident personality with a preference for direct action. She displays a distinct interest in modern fashion and financial gain, demonstrating practical shrewdness when negotiating prize money at the World Martial Arts Tournament. She harbors deep resentment toward Dr. Gero for modifying her body and steadfastly refuses his orders. While her alternate future counterpart was ruthless, the present timeline version avoids unnecessary harm to others. After marrying Kuririn, she develops into a caring wife and mother who looks after her family, offering subtle affection and displaying mature judgment to set a good example for her daughter.

Abilities

As a cybernetic human fused at the cellular level, Android 18 possesses an internal perpetual energy reactor that supplies endless stamina, preventing exhaustion and output drop during long battles. Because her body emits no biological ki, she cannot be detected through energy sensing techniques or power radars. Her physical durability is extraordinarily high, easily frustrating Super Saiyan attacks and causing steel blades to chip against her skin. She is capable of flight and can continuously raise her base power through dedicated training. Her combat style emphasizes efficient defense paired with decisive counterattacks.

Background

Originally a human named Lazuli, she lived as a street youth with her twin brother before being abducted and transformed into a bio-cyborg by Dr. Gero. Placed in stasis for her disobedient nature, she was awakened during Gero's emergency, only for her brother to eliminate their creator. The siblings traveled across the land aiming for Son Goku until the bio-android Cell targeted her for complete evolution. Although absorbed by Cell, she was liberated during the Cell Games when Son Gohan struck the monster. Moved by Kuririn's compassion and his wish to remove her internal explosive, she later married him and moved to Kame House, raising their daughter Marron while occasionally rejoining Earth's warriors in critical battles.

Relationships

She shares a loving marriage with Kuririn, developing feelings for him after he destroyed her self-destruct trigger and removed her internal bomb. Together they raise their beloved daughter, Marron. She maintains a close connection with her twin brother, Android 17, drawing on their shared past as humans and executing flawless teamwork in battle. Conversely, she holds intense hatred for her creator, Dr. Gero, for violating her bodily autonomy. In combat history, she decisively overwhelmed Vegeta in their first duel, and later engineered a lucrative financial deal with Mr. Satan during the World Martial Arts Tournament.

Trivia

Her original human name, Lazuli, pairs with her twin brother Android 17's original name, Lapis, to form the name of the deep-blue gemstone lapis lazuli. Because her physical body was bio-engineered at a cellular level, her aging process is drastically slowed down, allowing her to retain her youthful appearance across decades. Additionally, similar to Namekians, her organic cells require only water intake for basic biological maintenance.
