Overview
Vegetto is a character from the Dragon Ball series, brought into existence through the fusion of Son Goku and Vegeta using the Supreme Kai's Potara earrings. Premiering in the Majin Buu arc of the original story, he later makes a return in the Future Trunks arc of Dragon Ball Super. Functioning as the Potara counterpart to the Fusion Dance warrior Gogeta, he represents one of the most formidable fighters in the franchise.
Appearance
Vegetto is a muscular male warrior who wears yellow Potara earrings on both ears. His hairstyle blends Vegeta's widow's peak with Goku's spiky bangs. His outfit consists of an inverted color scheme of Goku's traditional martial arts suit—featuring a blue outer tunic over an orange undershirt—combined with white gloves and boots. When transforming into Super Saiyan, his hair turns blonde, whereas his Super Saiyan Blue form alters his hair and eyes to a turquoise-tinged light blue.
Personality
Vegetto exhibits a personality that combines Goku's easygoing nature with Vegeta's immense pride and combativeness. Brimming with supreme confidence during battles, he frequently taunts and plays with his opponents. Beneath his cocky demeanor lies a brilliant tactical mind, enabling him to make calculated decisions and carry out shrewd strategies under high-pressure battle conditions.
Abilities
Possessing speed and raw power that far transcend his individual components, Vegetto is capable of transforming into Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan Blue. His signature abilities include the Spirit Sword, which shapes his energy into a razor-sharp blade to pierce enemies, and the Final Kamehameha, a devastating energy blast combining Vegeta's Final Flash with Goku's Kamehameha.
Background
Vegetto first emerged during the desperate battle against Majin Buu, created when Son Goku and Vegeta put on the Potara earrings. Overwhelming Buu with absolute dominance, he deliberately allowed himself to be absorbed in order to rescue his friends trapped inside the monster's body. He reappeared in the Future Trunks arc of Dragon Ball Super to fight Fused Zamasu, transforming into Super Saiyan Blue to battle the god.
Relationships
Vegetto is the direct result of a Potara fusion between Son Goku and Vegeta. During his initial fight against Majin Buu, he fought to rescue Son Gohan and the others who had been absorbed, and later engaged in a fierce conflict against Fused Zamasu during the Future Trunks arc.
Trivia
His name is derived from a portmanteau of Vegeta and Goku's Saiyan name, Kakarot. When mortals who are not Supreme Kais use the Potara earrings to fuse, the transformation is limited to one hour, though expending extreme power can cause the fusion to unravel early.
